Corbett in Bothell, WA

We’re excited to introduce you to Corbett, also known as Corby! This 8-year-old tricolor boy is full of personality and acts much younger than his age. He came into rescue after his owner died, and the neighbors could not keep him since he chased their indoor cat.

So, what makes Corby so full of personality? It starts with his big smile and silly puppy-like antics. It includes his love of playing with toys, balls, and bones, and his uncanny ability to sniff them out when tucked away. You can’t forget his mischievous nature since he always seems to be on the lookout for toilet paper to unroll and paper products to eat. His enthusiastic personality also comes through at mealtime when he reminds you it’s time to eat, where the food is located, and if you’re taking too long.

Corby loves big too. He’s a sweet, devoted companion and always wants to be close by. He’ll follow you around and then plop on your lap when it’s time to relax. He’ll also give you heartfelt kisses, if you let him. When it’s time for bed, he expects to sleep in the big bed with you, preferably with his head on your pillow, though his snoring may make this difficult for light sleepers. He will sleep in a crate but barks for a while before settling, and occasionally during the night so you don’t forget he’s there.

Corby is always up for an adventure and is a great traveler. He came into rescue out of shape and overweight, but he’s lost a couple of pounds and is now able to go on 30-minute walks and run up a flight of stairs. He weighs about 27 lbs, though his ideal weight is closer to 24-25 lbs. While he’s a big boy, his thick, luscious coat exaggerates his size. The hair on top of his head tends to fall in his eyes like long bangs, so sometimes you’ll find tiny clips holding it back while out for a walk or playing with toys.

Corby is great with other dogs and seems to like the companionship of his foster family’s Cavalier. He sometimes barks at dogs while on walks, but he responds to redirection and treats.

Since coming into rescue, Corby has had dental with extractions and treatment for ear infections. The vet suspects Corby has a mild case of SM because of face rubbing and an intermittent head tilt, and prescribed gabapentin which Corby now takes 2-3 times a day.

If you’re looking for a dog that will make you smile and keep you entertained, Corby is your guy! He’s a great fit for an adult home where he’ll get plenty of attention, walks, play sessions, snuggles, and adventures too. He’ll likely do best with another dog, especially for those times you need to be away from home, but he is not compatible with cats. Please note that Corby is not a match for families with kids due to eating things he shouldn’t, such as small toys and paper products, and stealing food if given the opportunity.
