Lacey and Bella in Burnsville, MN

Lacey and Bella are a bonded pair, who came to rescue when their dad died and their mom went into assisted living. We’d like to place them together as they love and watch out for each other.

Lacey is a beautiful, happy and loving 5-year-old Blenheim Cavalier, born 6/16/2020. She is healthy but overweight at 28 lbs. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines.

Bella is an athletic, cuddly and friendly 3-year-old Cavapoo, born 3/3/2022. She is very healthy, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. She weighs 21 lbs.

Lacey is a very sweet, joyful dog with a beautiful smile. She likes to be petted and to give kisses. She loves to chew on bully sticks and will occasionally play with a toy. Although treats are limited, she loves frozen blueberries. She had a couple of potty mistakes the first day in foster care but none since then. We take her outside every 3 hours.

Lacey does an excellent job on walks, staying right beside you or just behind. When her foster family started walking with her 3 weeks ago, she was very slow and tired quickly. Now that she has lost weight, she has gained endurance and can walk at a nice pace for a bit over a mile. We walk twice a day, early morning and again in late evening if the temperature isn’t too hot.  She is also bounding up the stairs and snoring less than when she arrived. Her weight has decreased 2 pounds since coming into foster care and it’s important for her new family to continue helping her lose weight.

Bella is very smart, energetic, and the dominant one of the two dogs. She is affectionate and likes to snuggle in your lap or lay up against you. Any time another dog is getting pets and attention, she wants some too! She jumps on people when excited and will jump on doors or cabinets. Although she is usually a quiet dog, she will bark if she sees someone outside a window or the front door and sometimes barks when cuddling with her foster mom and her foster dad enters the room. She also barks at dogs on television. She is fully housebroken and has never had a mistake in foster care.

Bella loves walks but can be reactive. When we started walking with her she would bark and pull when seeing wildlife, like the turkey family in our neighborhood, or if she saw people working in their yard. Now she is calmer but will still react when people approach while walking a dog. Bella likes to play with toys, especially squeaky ones, and loves it when you throw them for her to fetch. She sometimes enjoys bully sticks. Bella is not currently on any medications but has taken Apoquel at times to control seasonal itchiness.

Both dogs are great car travelers and will lay down quietly in their crates. When we need to leave the house, they will bark for a few minutes in their crates but then settle down. They like the other dogs in their foster home. They haven’t been around children yet but we think they’d be fine, especially with older considerate kids.

They love running around our fenced backyard but will also potty quickly on a leash. Bella would enjoy having a fenced yard in her forever home as she does cute zoomies around the yard.
