Ruby and Lucy in Greensboro, NC
Ruby and Lucy are a bonded pair of Cavalier girls who are ready to fill their new forever home with love. They came into rescue because their former owner was about to lose her home and knew she needed to surrender them to rescue so they could receive the care and attention they needed.

Both girls are estimated to be around 7 years old. Lucy is the Blenheim and Ruby is the Ruby with a little white on her face and chest.
When they arrived, it was clear they had suffered from some neglect and they both were very anxious. Having each other and quickly feeling the stability from their foster family and foster fur siblings, helped Lucy and Ruby overcome their fears and separation anxiety. They are the most loving girls and will go to great lengths to be right by their foster family. In typical Cavalier fashion, they are clingers and follow their foster mom everywhere!

Ruby is a 20 lb girl who is a happy, loving, laidback lady who loves everyone, two legged and four legged. She loves to run around the fenced backyard like a young pup. Her favorite thing in the world is laying by you while you gently pet her. She will let you know if she wants more attention by tapping you with her nose. She also loves looking out the front window with her foster siblings to make sure her home does not get invaded by outside dogs or squirrels! Since arriving in rescue, Ruby was spayed, microchipped and had a dental where she lost 19 teeth. She is eating well and feels like a new woman!

Lucy is 14 lbs and is and absolute love bug. She would happily sit by your side all day if she could. She will follow you everywhere you go and will try to figure out where you are going to sit next. Before you turn around, there she is waiting for you to sit down. Eventually you will see her curled up by Ruby for a nice nap. Lucy was also recently spayed, microchipped and had a dental, where she sadly lost all of her teeth. She is doing well on small kibble mixed with water and some can food and also feels like a new woman with those rotten teeth out of her mouth. Lucy is a very fast eater and will attempt to consume the other dog’s food if she can. Her foster Mom separates her in another room to help with this.

Vetting revealed that both Ruby and Lucy are still congenitally sound with good eyes, knees, hips and heart. Additionally, all of their lab work (fecal test, heartworm test, tick borne illness test, and pre surgery bloodwork) were all normal and negative. They were treated ear infections in both ears, so their new owners will need to stay on top of keeping their ears clean to prevent future infections. They are both on monthly heartworm and flea/tick medication.

Ruby and Lucy are potty trained and won’t have accidents as long as they are taken outside regularly. They have mastered the doggie door, but still wish to go out with their foster Mom and siblings to potty and chase squirrels. They love running and playing in the fenced yard, so a fenced yard is a requirement for their new home.

The girls have never been apart and definitely gravitate towards each other. They get along well with all other dogs, but certainly seek out each other. For this reason, they cannot be separated and need to be adopted together. They would be fine going to a home with another like sized canine companion. They haven’t been around cats or young children.

They also need a home where someone is home most of the day to help them continue to overcome their separation anxiety.
