Leela in Loma Linda, CA

Meet Leela, a 7-year-old Black and Tan Cavalier born 7/18/2018 who beautifully embodies everything we love about this breed; gentle, affectionate, and wonderfully easygoing. She has a calm presence that makes her an exceptional companion.

Leela came to rescue after her owner passed away and the family, wanting the very best for her, made the difficult decision to find her a home where she would receive the care and attention she deserves.

A true “Velcro” Cavalier, Leela thrives on being close to her person, whether snuggling on the couch, following you from room to room, or quietly keeping you company. She is housetrained, uses a doggy door, and has impeccable manners. Leela sleeps soundly through the night in her dog bed but would happily join her family in the big bed. At approximately 17 pounds, she’s the perfect size for cuddling and travel since she rides beautifully in the car.

Leela’s personality is pure gold. She is friendly with everyone she meets, including children, cats, and other dogs. Adaptable and gentle, she would fit easily into just about any home. Her tail is almost always wagging. She could win an Olympic medal for enthusiasm and when she sees her harness, she does the cutest little dance. Leela walks nicely on leash and loves her outings, but she’s just as content relaxing at home. She is wonderfully quiet and does not bark, making her ideal for apartment or townhome living. Leela also enjoys soaking up the sunshine on a patio or in a small yard and does not require a large outdoor space.

Leela is resilient and feeling great after a recent full dental cleaning. She is up-to-date on vaccines and microchipped. Leela has a few manageable health notes. She has a low-grade heart murmur (no treatment currently needed) and some hair loss that is already filling back in with good nutrition. Leela does have dry eye (keratoconjunctivitis sicca), and requires lifelong twice daily eye drops/ointment to stay comfortable. She is an absolute angel for this routine and sits patiently for her medicine. Due to some diminished peripheral vision, a home with an unfenced pool will not be considered for her safety.
