Birdie in Kenilworth, IL

My name is Birdie and I am an almost 3-year-old (my birthday is 7-12-2023), 17 pound slim bundle of Cavalier love. I am a solid Black Cavalier with the most gorgeous coat (my feathering and slippers are really coming in nicely!) and I have big beautiful dark eyes along with the biggest heart for everyone I meet. I was given to Cavalier Rescue USA by my breeder who wanted the perfect forever home to be found for me.

My favorite thing in life is to be with my foster mom and my big black Lab foster brother. I can’t be close enough, I even crawl into his crate to nap with him! I have a calm, confident, curious personality and gentle temperament. I have met children of various ages and am comfortable around calm, respectful, dog-savvy children ages 5 and older. While on walks I will bark hello at dogs in passing to let them know I am here. I love all dogs I have met, especially my foster brother who I cuddle up to every day. I love to play with other dogs and would enjoy a life with other Cavaliers to play with and snuggle with every day. I just love everyone, although I am a bit shy when meeting new people.  

In just a short time I have learned to walk on a leash in a semi-urban neighborhood with loud trains and trucks. I really enjoy walks with my foster brother and hope I can continue going on walks in my forever home. I also enjoy being able to run and explore my foster mom’s physically fenced yard, so that is something I would really like to have as well. I would love to be able to sleep with my new person in the big bed as being close is important to me. I am fully housetrained on a schedule and I can hold it all night. My foster mom is home most of the time to let me out, but I learned very quickly to go outside.

I am a healthy girl! I have sound knees and I have recently undergone a spay, dental (with 3 extractions), am up to date on core vaccines and prevention and am microchipped. I have a very faint low grade heart murmur; the vet said it might be because I was nervous, and there is nothing needed at this time.
