Gunner in Lakewood, OH
If you have a cold lap and seem to have lost your shadow, this Cavalier is the perfect dog for you. Gunner came to Cavalier Rescue USA from a very busy family that was not able to give him the attention that he needed. Gunner was recently taken to the vet and had a clean bill of health. He did recently get his teeth cleaned with some extractions, however, none of this has stopped him from enjoying his life with his foster family. This handsome boy weighs 20 lbs.

Gunner enjoys following you around the house, napping smack dab in the middle of your lap no matter what you seem to be doing at the time, and running around his fenced-in yard with his fur buddies. In his previous home, he did not have a designated place to sleep. At his foster home he has learned where his “room” is and happily goes there when asked. He seems to enjoy being in his “room” and loves passing out on a nice cushy chair or couch. Gunner enjoys a car ride, only when he is with his fur buddies and gets anxious and wines when he is not with them in the car.

Gunner is completely house-trained. He loves the company of other dogs, teenagers, and adults, and will need a little time to fit in with his new surroundings. When he first arrived at his foster home, Gunner would anxiously throw-up when he was nervous. However, after a couple of weeks, this anxiety has dissipated and he no longer does this. He enjoys being home with the family and would thrive in an environment with a stay-at-home/work-from-home caregiver. Gunner has not been around cats or small children in his foster home; however, he was raised with two young children in his previous home.

Gunner is loving his “healthier” treat options like celery, cucumbers, peppers, raspberries, strawberries and yogurt! He has recently learned how to climb the steps in his foster’s house- so no worries- as your new shadow can now be with you wherever you are in your home. Gunner loves to go on walks and is very excited to be on his leash and exploring new places.

Gunner will be happiest in a home with a fenced-in yard and another friendly dog or two. He gets along well with other pets and seems to be less nervous in the car when he has other fur buddies to keep him company.
