Sage in Villa Park, IL

Meet your new best friend! Sage is a 5-year-old (her birthday is 12-24-2021) sweet, full-sized bundle of Ruby love who is looking for a family to call her own. Sage was a breeder release and has come a long way since arriving into her foster home. She is very outgoing and absolutely adores people of all ages, including young children, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. Her favorite place to be? Right by your side or even better, curled up in your lap!  

Sage is a cuddle bug through and through and simply wants to be loved. When it’s time for treats or a meal, she’ll happily show off her adorable twirl, which is guaranteed to make you smile. She is a very happy girl and is full of life!

She is crate trained and does well being crated during the day for short periods of time while her foster mom leaves the house as well as during the night, although due to her love of her people she would most likely love to join her forever family in the big bed. She’s also doing great with her housetraining journey. She still gets a little confused at times about whether to go on the grass or the concrete, but as long as she’s taken outside regularly and given time to do her business, she does very well. She will need patience and consistency to ensure her continued success with her housetraining. She currently enjoys free roam of the house and hasn’t had any recent accidents.

This food-loving girl is highly motivated by treats and is eager to keep learning. She would thrive in a situation where someone is home most of the day and she has another playful dog companion. She would love a physically-fenced yard where she can continue building her confidence and exploring the world around her; however, she also enjoys walking on a leash with a harness where she has the opportunity to meet new people and dogs.

Sage is a very healthy girl! She arrived to Cavalier Rescue USA a bit on the chunky side, so we have been working on getting her weight down. She is currently about 24 pounds and still needs to lose a few more pounds, which would help increase her stamina and is also important for her overall health. She has a clear heart, sound knees and has recently undergone a spay, dental (with 6 extractions), is up to date on core vaccines, heartworm/flea/tick prevention and is microchipped.
