Teela in Lebanon, MO

Meet Teela!

Some dogs burst into a room demanding attention. Teela is the kind of girl who quietly walks in, gently leans against your leg, and before you know it, has completely stolen your heart.

At almost four years old and 15 pounds, this beautiful tricolor Cavalier is beginning the life she was always meant to have. After spending her early years with a breeder, Teela was lovingly released to Cavalier Rescue USA when her breeder retired, giving her the opportunity to discover what it truly means to be someone’s cherished family member. Like many former breeding dogs, she arrived a little shy and unsure, but it didn’t take long for her to realize that life was about to get so much better.

Soft blankets, delicious meals, gentle hands, and canine friends quickly became part of her daily routine, and Teela embraced them all with quiet gratitude. She especially enjoys spending time outside in a securely fenced yard, happily running laps before stopping to rub her face in the grass or rolling onto her back to soak up the warm sunshine. Those carefree moments are a beautiful reminder that she’s learning how to simply be a dog.

If there is one thing Teela loves most, it’s being close to her people. She’s happiest curled up in a lap, and she isn’t particular about how you hold her—as long as she’s with you, she’s content. Lean into her for just a few moments, and before long she’ll be sound asleep, completely relaxed and trusting. She’s equally happy sleeping in bed with her family or alongside her canine companions in a cozy dog-proofed room. One thing Teela values above all else is companionship. She has always lived with other dogs and finds great comfort in having a canine friend by her side. While she absolutely adores her people, she’ll do best in a home with another friendly, confident dog and someone who is home most of the day, as she truly enjoys being part of the family rather than spending long hours alone.

A true people pleaser, Teela is eager to learn and responds beautifully to gentle encouragement and positive praise. House training is still a work in progress since it’s an entirely new experience for her, but she’s making wonderful progress with consistency and patience. Following the other dogs outside has helped her understand the routine, and she’s gaining confidence every day. Like many Cavaliers, Teela believes mealtime is a family affair and is always curious about what everyone else is having! She isn’t food aggressive at all—in fact, she’s just a little too interested in her canine friends’ dinners. Because of her enthusiasm around food, it’s best for Teela and her canine companions to be fed separately so everyone can enjoy their meals without the temptation of an inquisitive little nose checking out a neighbor’s bowl.

While some dogs thrive on excitement, Teela is happiest living life at a slower pace. She’s a quiet, easygoing soul who prefers cozy evenings, peaceful routines, and quality time with her family over loud or hectic environments. You’ll often find her quietly following her favorite person from room to room, watching whatever you’re doing with gentle curiosity, always wanting to be nearby. She isn’t much of a barker, usually only announcing her excitement when it’s time for dinner or when her people return home.

Teela’s perfect home is one where life moves at a slower pace. She would thrive with someone who enjoys quiet evenings at home, has a predictable routine, and is home most of the day. While she’s still young, she’s not looking for a family that’s constantly on the go or one that wants a dog to accompany them everywhere. Teela is happiest in the comfort of home, whether she’s exploring her fenced yard, following her favorite person from room to room, or curled up in a warm lap. A friendly, confident canine companion is a must, as having another dog by her side gives her comfort and confidence. She would do best in a calm home without the hustle and bustle of young children or frequent activity, where she can continue blossoming into the wonderful companion she’s meant to be.
