Susan in Medina, OH

This beautiful sweetheart is Susan. She was given to rescue by a commercial breeder in mid-April. She is a sweet 6-year-old Ruby Cavalier with a gentle soul and a heart full of love. She loves soft blankets and comfy dog beds. She enjoys being close to her people and is happiest when she can relax nearby.

Susan is a little timid at first but warms up after some time. She is currently in a foster home with two adults,  an older Cavalier, a cat and two children. She truly enjoys the company of other animals in the home. She does really well with gentle and calm children. She struggles with fast movements and loud noises sometimes, but has shown improvement.

She is extremely calm and does not require much exercise. She is not interested in dog toys but she loves a play session with her Cavalier sister. She really loves a good belly rub. She enjoys yogurt, carrots and eggs as treats and takes them very gently.

She is house and crate trained and sleeps quietly in her crate. She will need a dog proof home to ensure she does not ingest anything. She enjoys grass and loves to roll onto her back and wiggle. She would do well in a home with minimal steps as she is still very wary of them. She is working on walking on a leash and learning how to sit and lay down. She was great when she visited the Veterinarian and groomer. 

While in foster care, Susan has been updated on all recommended vaccines, microchipped, spayed and had a dental cleaning done with extractions. She weighs 20 lbs. She is on monthly heartworm prevention, and she is taking a good probiotic to keep her gut healthy.

Susan had a re-occurring UTI that has now cleared up with the correct antibiotic. She went into heat a couple of days after her dental and her spay was postponed for 8 weeks. A week before her scheduled spay, an emergency happened and she needed surgery for Pyometra. She is 2 weeks post-op and is recovering beautifully and had bloodwork done to recheck her WBC’s. It is recommended that she has bloodwork completed in 2 months to re-evaluate her liver enzymes (ALT). Despite her liver enzymes being elevated, she is in good health and ready to find her forever home.
