Rascal in Celina, TX

Rascal is a 7 year old (DOB 03/13/19) Tricolor Cavalier. He is a very sweet and easy-going boy.

Rascal loves people, other dogs, curling up next to you on the couch and watching TV while receiving scratches. Keep your remote on hand as one of his quirks is that if he sees another dog or animal on TV he will bark at it!  Rascal’s ready to find his forever home and be your loving and loyal companion! Rascal came into the rescue after his previous owner could no longer provide him with the care he needs and deserves.

In his foster home there are two dogs and two cats. Prior to the rescue he was an only dog and experienced separation anxiety. He has not experienced separation anxiety with the company of the other dogs in the house. For this reason we recommend a home with other dogs. He doesn’t mind the cats. He doesn’t interact with them very much besides an occasional sniff if they walk by.

Rascal can be playful at times with his foster dog brothers but is overall very calm and laid back. He prefers physical play fighting with his foster siblings over playing with balls and chew toys. He loves to lounge in the front room of the house to look out the window and watch people and dogs walking by. He likes to go outside, run around in the backyard, and take in the sunshine!

Rascal does not like crates and will cry if he has to get in one. At bedtime he may choose to snuggle up next to you or sleep on the couch depending on his mood. His previous owner reported that he is nervous with young kids but not aggressive. He is potty trained but does not alert. He needs to be let out regularly throughout the day. Rascal is trusted to roam freely around the house when his foster parents are not home.

During his time in the rescue Rascal has been neutered, had his teeth cleaned, had a cherry eye surgery, and has been on a slight weight gain journey as his weight was previously less than ideal. He currently weighs 15 lbs. He does have a grade 2 heart murmur that does not require medication. His previous owner reported that he can get back soreness when he is overweight but that has not been observed by his foster family or the vet.
