Echo in NYC, NY

Echo is a 4-year-old Blenheim Cavalier born 01/06/2022. This boy has a huge heart, an even bigger personality, and absolutely no concern for personal space — which, as any Cavalier lover knows, is part of the breed standard!

Echo came into rescue after his family experienced life changes and could no longer give him the time and attention he deserves. He’s now searching for a forever family who will spoil him just enough…or a lot.

Echo is sweet, playful, and incredibly affectionate. His favorite place is wherever his people are — on your lap, beside you, or following you from room to room to ensure you don’t accidentally get lonely. He loves playing with his toys and will happily recruit you for a game whenever the mood strikes.

While Echo gets along with his foster sister, he believes that certain things in life, like his favorite toys and treats, are meant to be admired, not shared. While he is happy to encounter other dogs on walks, he has not shown interest in bonding with his foster sister. For this reason, Echo may not be the best fit if you are looking for a new BFF to a current dog. He would be perfectly content to be an only dog, as well. He has done well with both older children and toddlers.

Echo is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccinations. He has epilepsy that is well controlled with twice-daily medication and has remained seizure-free while on treatment. He also has an adorable little quirky walk from time to time. X-rays confirmed he’s structurally sound. We like to think it’s just part of his signature style. He is currently murmur free! He has a little plaque and will need a dental in the next year or so. 

Echo has a little separation anxiety and may voice a brief objection when you leave, but he settles down quickly. He sleeps peacefully in his crate, although he’d gladly accept a promotion to the big bed if one becomes available.

At 30 pounds, Echo is a “full-sized” Cavalier with surprisingly sophisticated taste buds. He politely declines most treats but enthusiastically accepts liver treats and  cream cheese (the only acceptable way to disguise his medication). His veterinarian recommends he lose about 5 pounds, and for his wellbeing, it is important his future family are committed to helping him achieve this goal. 

Echo loves his daily walks and gets so excited when his leash comes out that he spins in happy circles. He greets everyone he meets like a long-lost friend and firmly believes the world is full of people who have been waiting all day to meet him. Because he loves being with his people, he’d do best in a home where someone is around for much of the day.
