Lucky in Albuquerque, NM
Meet Lucky, a handsome 4-year-old Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel born February 11, 2022. Lucky came into Cavalier Rescue USA after his former family decided they were unable to give him the time and attention he needed.

When Lucky first arrived in rescue, he was a little underweight and understandably nervous in his new surroundings. As he has settled into his foster home and gained confidence, we have seen a wonderful transformation. He is becoming more comfortable, secure, and relaxed every day. He has also had some territorial marking, but this behavior has decreased significantly after he was neutered and as he has become more confident. His foster mom uses a kennel or belly band when she is away from home as a precaution.

Lucky currently lives happily with two cats and two other Cavaliers. He gets along well with everyone and especially enjoys playing with his canine companions. He is comfortable in his kennel and will sometimes choose to go there on his own for a little quiet time. At night, he sleeps peacefully on the human bed with his foster mom and his furry friends. Here he is hanging out in the cat cubby…

This sweet boy loves affection and snuggles from his foster mom and enjoys having other dogs around. Because of his social and playful nature, a home with another young, active, small dog would be ideal for him. His foster mom has not had the opportunity to see him around large dogs, although she believes he would likely do well with a calm, well-balanced large dog.

Lucky is a fairly active Cavalier and would love a home where he can get plenty of exercise and playtime. A securely fenced yard would be wonderful, especially where he could run and play with his canine companion. He is also a smart boy who enjoys learning and already knows several commands, including sit, come, wait, free, kennel up, and his foster family’s special release word for mealtime. He is learning that “quiet” means, “I heard your warning, and now you can stop barking!”

Lucky is a gentleman when it comes to food. He eats slowly and takes treats very gently. He is currently eating a combination of Blue Buffalo small-breed dry food and commercial raw food from Stella & Chewy’s and Primal.

Lucky is healthy and has reached a good weight of 17 pounds. Most importantly, he is a sweet, loving, playful boy who has blossomed in his foster home. He is ready to find a family who will give him the time, companionship, love, and attention he deserves.
