Frankie in Fort Myers, FL
Hi! My name is Frankie and I’m Ruby Cavalier looking for a special family who wants a forever buddy that’s fun, smart and adorable. I’m 1-year-old turning 2 on October 1st.

All that I really want is lots of love and attention and I’ll give you much more in return. See, I’ve had a rough start to dog life and all I want is to be loved, to feel safe and secure. I will be a true companion to someone who really needs me, will play with me and wants to take me everywhere they go. I was rescued by a nice woman who gave me to Cavalier Rescue USA so I could find my forever family. I’m a true companion and love being wherever my people are whether we’re going for a walk, taking a car ride, playing together, or just relaxing on the couch. I’ve really loved being with my foster family but need to find a new home soon so I can settle into a routine of continuing with my house training and learning manners. I am a quick learner and really like getting high value treats for sitting, coming, staying and down. Someone who can continue helping me with learning how to be a “good” dog is very important as all I want to do is please you.

One of my favorite things is playing fetch! I love chasing balls, playing with toys, going for walks and running around in a securely fenced yard. My foster mom takes me out a lot since I’m still working on going potty outside and I’m doing great. I don’t have any accidents if I can go outside often to do my business. I’ve been neutered and haven’t marked in my foster home at all. Even though I’ve been crate trained, I don’t really like going in my crate except to eat my dinner. My favorite place to sleep is in a big bed with my people and I don’t jump on the furniture unless asked.

Did I mention I love car rides? I ride calmly in the car and would happily tag along whenever I can. At home, I tend to follow my person from room to room and love settling beside my foster mom to watch TV. I’m definitely happiest when I’m included in whatever you’re doing. I’d do best in a home where my people are home most of the day.

I really enjoy being around other dogs and love having canine friends, but I don’t always love sharing my favorite things like food, treats, and toys. Because of that, I’d be happiest as the only dog in my forever home, where I can soak up all the attention and have my special things to myself. I can still enjoy meeting and spending time with other dogs. I’d just prefer to come home and be the king of my own castle.

My foster mom took me to the vet to get a check up and they said I’m healthy, up to date on all my vaccinations and preventatives but have a minor luxating patella that doesn’t stop me from any activity and doesn’t require surgery. The vet also said I should lose a few pounds which would also help put less strain on my knee. Like most Cavaliers, I really like to eat so this is not good news! I will need my new family to help me lose a few pounds. No heart murmur detected, either.

My ideal family would be one where I’m the only dog so I can get lots of individual love, care and attention, continue with my training, help me lose weight and just have lots of fun chasing balls and getting exercise. I’m a young little guy who loves people and other dogs but needs to feel safe, confident and loved so I can be the best loving companion you’ve ever had.
