Chevy in Chicago, IL
Chevy is a 4-year-old Tricolor male Cavalier. When their work schedules became increasingly demanding, Chevy’s previous family made the very difficult and selfless decision to entrust him to Cavalier Rescue USA. They loved Chevy and knew that he would thrive in a home where someone is home most of the day and can give him the companionship, attention, and love he so enjoys. They made this decision because they wanted what was best for Chevy, and we’re grateful they trusted us to find him that perfect home.
We happily accepted him. He has been in foster care for about a month and he is now ready to meet his forever family.

Chevy is an independent guy but also loves to snuggle up and curl up next to his human(s) to relax. Since being in his foster home, he spends a lot less time out of his kennel. At night he is free to roam the house in contained areas. He moves from space to space throughout the night. During the day he is at home with his foster mom and enjoys his time sunbathing inside and outside, exploring the neighborhood on walks and enjoying tons of attention from his grade school foster humans. An ideal home would allow Chevy a lot of time outside of his kennel and someone who is home most of the time.

Chevy is dog social and gets very excited to meet dogs on leash in fact a bit over excited and doesn’t know how yet to calmly meet another dog. We are working on that. Inside the house, he is being fostered with another dog, but he seems indifferent. He would do well with a very calm dog or no dog at all as he prefers to be the center of attention.

Chevy is an expressive little boy and gets so excited for walks even at the site of his leash he starts letting you know he’s ready to go. He loves a sniff walk where he gets to stop and slowly sniff and look around, but can also be redirected for a nice brisk fast walk.

Chevy doesn’t seem to be bothered by noises – sirens, thunder or any other loud noises. He is being fostered in a neighborhood where there’s many noises and he has acclimated well.
Chevy’s house trained and stands by the door when he is needing to go out. He is kennel trained but is trusted outside his kennel for short errands. He is still being kenneled for longer durations but could easily be a crate free dog eventually.

His previous family taught him some commands, such as sit, a gentle no and paw. He is motivated by food, so could easily be trained to do more tricks.
Chevy is 17.5 lbs, neutered, up to date on vaccines preventatives. He had a recent dental cleaning before coming to foster care as well.
