Lily in Lusby, MD

Hello everyone! My name is Lily and I am looking for my forever home. I’m told that I’m a little over 1 year old, but they’re unsure since I was picked up as a stray in a field in Pennsylvania. How I was ever able to manage for myself, I’ll never know, but I was very thin and hungry when I arrived. I’ve gained a few pounds since then, but I’m still considered a petite little girl weighing in at just under 14 pounds.

I’m looking for someone who wants a true lap dog but will also enjoy playing with me. I’ve been told that I can be a little feisty. When I’m ready to curl up on a lap and nap, I can be quite persistent. I also love relaxing beside my foster family on the couch and cuddling.

My Cavalier foster brother and sister have taught me many new things in my foster home. I love to play with other dogs and often lie in wait to pounce on them when they are least expecting it. I have not been around cats. Given how much I love to play though, a home with children (I’m great with kids) and possibly another dog, would be wonderful.

I love going on walks and will take care of my business while I’m out. I’m still working on commands and haven’t quite mastered them yet. When my foster parents call me, I sometimes turn it into a game by running away so they’ll chase me, and I love being chased. For that reason, a fenced yard is required. Because I’m small, I may be able to squeeze through gaps, so the fence must be secure. I’m also very curious about squirrels, deer, butterflies, and even leaves, so I may try to chase them. I’m crate trained and sleep in my crate at night, but I’d be happiest sleeping in bed beside my person.

My vet told me that I seemed to be a healthy little girl with the exception of what happened when I first arrived at my foster family’s house. You see, I had two episodes of what they believe might have been a vestibular issue. I have not had another episode in weeks but there is a chance it could happen again. While under for my spay (scheduled 9/17), the vet will thoroughly examine and clean my ears to see if that was possibly the cause. I am up to date on my core vaccines and received heartworm prevention, and I am microchipped.
