Meet Bodie, a handsome boy who LOVES to have fun!

Bodie is a happy 3-year-old Blenheim Cavalier who came into our rescue when his previous owner became too overwhelmed by the combination of four young children and two dogs and realized Bodie was not getting the love and attention he deserved. He is an energetic Cavalier who is eager to please and ready to find his special people who will include him in all their adventures.

Bodie came from a home with another young Cavalier, and his foster sister is also a young Cavalier. She’s been very apprehensive about having her first foster brother, but Bodie has been incredibly patient with her. He’d do well with another canine companion, but he’d also be fine as a single dog where he could receive ALL the love and attention. As with most Cavaliers, Bodie would prefer to be in a home where he isn’t left alone very much, and he dreams of getting to sleep on the big bed, something he wasn’t able to do in his previous life. Having said that, he does great in a crate and knows it’s his safe space.

Bodie was already neutered, and now he’s up to date on core vaccines and confirmed to be heart healthy! The vet noted some discoloration on a few of Bodie’s teeth which indicates some earlier trauma either from chewing on something too hard or possibly an illness. His forever family will need to be committed to monitoring Bodie’s teeth and be prepared to have them extracted when the time comes. For now, they are causing him no discomfort.

Bodie is a wonderful companion at home, happily following his people around all day and almost never barking. He gets very excited at mealtimes and eats quickly. He often tries to eat his foster sister’s food (it’s not his fault since she eats so slowly!), but he’s a decent listener when his foster mom steps in and tells him no. He is house trained but may mark a couple times during his first days in his new home.

Bodie’s new home will need to have a securely fenced yard because he will take any opportunity to explore! His recall is relatively good, but he loves to run wild and free if given the chance, so he should be kept on a leash unless his family is confident the park or area is secure. He’s an avid fetch player and loves anyone who throws his special orange ball for him!

Bodie gets extremely excited on walks when he encounters squirrels, birds, and especially other dogs. This is the only time he ever barks and whines. His family will need to be committed to continuing to work with Bodie on this ungentlemanly habit so that his walks (which he loves so much!) can be a little more peaceful for everyone.
