Gidget in North Aurora, IL
Gidget is an adorable 6-month-old female tricolor Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy ready for a loving family committed to giving her the time, patience and guidance every puppy needs. She was born on March 29, 2026 and weighs about 5.5 pounds; she is a tiny girl but has a huge personality, an abundance of energy and plenty of love to give!

Gidget was given to Cavalier Rescue USA by her breeder who wanted the perfect forever home to be found for her after an initial vet appointment revealed a possible heart arrhythmia. Once Gidget arrived into our care, she had a thorough exam at our vet who heard a sinus arrhythmia, which is a normal, healthy heart rhythm where the heart rate speeds up when the dog inhales and slows down when they exhale. Other vets she has seen concur this was an innocent arrhythmia and it has since gone away. She has a small reducible umbilical hernia that can be repaired when she is old enough to undergo spay surgery. Gidget is up to date on core puppy vaccines and preventatives.

Gidget is a social, outgoing and confident puppy who is still learning about the world and needs a family prepared for consistent, positive-reinforcement training. She prefers to potty outside and is making progress with housetraining, though pee pads are available in her playpens while she continues learning. At night she sleeps comfortably in a crate in her foster parent’s bedroom, though as a young puppy she still sometimes wakes them up in the middle of the night to go potty.

Gidget is a friendly, social girl who loves everyone she meets. She even gets to go to work with her foster mom, giving her plenty of opportunities to meet new people and experience new surroundings. Thanks to these experiences, she’s becoming a well-socialized little lady. Gidget is starting to learn how to wear a harness and walk on a leash, so she’ll need a patient family who can help her build confidence through positive reinforcement, consistency, and practice. Her foster family thinks she is very smart, and would likely thrive in puppy training classes. Due to Gidget’s small size, she would be best in a home with no children or children ages 16+ who are gentle, respectful and dog-savvy.

Gidget currently eats three meals a day to fuel her very busy puppy lifestyle. She also loves healthy snacks and is an enthusiastic eater! When she’s not eating or sleeping, she’s a busy girl who is usually on the move with places to go and people to meet! Gidget LOVES to run and play and would be happiest in a home with a securely physically fenced yard where she can safely zoom around and burn off some of her puppy energy. She enjoys playing with her foster siblings, including 2 Cavaliers, a large mixed-breed dog and cats, so having an active furry companion or two that will play with her will be required for her continued socialization and happiness. Most of the time, she’s either running and playing with her foster siblings or sleeping — there’s not much in between! When she is not busy playing, Gidget loves to snuggle with her foster parents and enjoys being close to the people she trusts.

Because she is still young, Gidget needs a family that is home most of the time and able to dedicate plenty of time to training, socialization, play, and care. Gidget requires a family who understands that puppies need time, patience, guidance, and consistency. In return, she promises to bring you plenty of laughter, adventures, snuggles, and unconditional love.
