Dolly in Hertford, NC

Dolly will steal your heart in the first 5 seconds of meeting her. Dolly is a sweet, healthy, 17-pound Blenheim Cavalier (possible mix) with a big heart and a love for people. She is 4 years old and was born on July 16, 2022. Dolly was used for breeding 4 to 5 times in her short 4-year life span and then was spayed and sold. Her mom that adopted her was notified by the landlord that she was not allowed to keep pets and given 30 days to find Dolly a new home, so Mom reached out to Cavalier Rescue USA. With her gentle nature, Dolly brings to mind Lady from Lady and the Tramp. She has settled into foster life and is ready for a family that will give her the love, patience, stability, and joyful adventures she deserves.

Dolly is the kind of dog who makes every day a little brighter. She enjoys walks, toys, couch snuggles, and has calm, curious and cuddly energy. In the home, Dolly is relaxed, affectionate, eager to please, and loves cuddling next to you or her sisters.

Like many foster dogs, Dolly is still learning and would thrive with a family that can offer consistency, kindness, and positive reinforcement. We are currently working on leash manners, crate training, using the stairs and building her confidence. She is very skittish and scares easily but is quick to get past it. She is eager to please and quick to learn. Dolly knows her name and responds well to encouragement and of course, treats. 

Dolly would do best in a home where she is an integral part of the family. Her ideal adopter will appreciate Dolly’s love and affection and help her continue building confidence. She would be a great fit for a calm household, where someone is home most of the day, grown children that would snuggle with her and maybe a home with another friendly dog her size. A fenced yard would be ideal as Dolly loves to go out off leash in her current foster family’s fenced yard. Dolly has not been tested around cats.
