Meet Sir Charlie!

Sir Charlie is a handsome five-year-old born on August 13, 2021.

Charlie has a sweet, easy-going personality and so much love to give. He absolutely adores people and is happiest when he can be close to his favorite humans. Whether he’s climbing into your lap for a hug, curling up beside you on the couch, or soaking up scratches while you watch TV, Charlie is truly a little lovebug.

Charlie came into rescue when his previous owner was no longer able to provide the care he needed. He previously lived with four other dogs and currently shares his foster home with two dogs and two cats. He gets along well with other dogs, although given the choice, Charlie will usually pick his people! He loves attention and isn’t shy about joining in when his foster brothers are getting pets and cuddles. He mostly ignores the cats in his foster home. Charlie has also spent time with a nine-year-old child and did very well.

While Charlie is generally calm and laid-back, he has a playful side too. He enjoys spending time outside, running around the backyard and relaxing in the sunshine. A fenced yard is important for Charlie, as he has been known to dig and may look for an escape route if given the opportunity. His yard should be checked regularly, and supervision outdoors is needed.

At bedtime, Charlie sleeps in his crate. He may whine briefly when settling in, but within a few minutes he is usually sound asleep.

Charlie is potty trained, although he does not consistently alert when he needs to go outside, so regular potty breaks will be important. He did have some accidents the first few days in a new house, so a belly band is suggested for those first days. But once he got used to his foster parents’ routine he has not had accidents.

The good news is that Charlie is trusted to roam freely in the house when his foster parents are away.

During his time in rescue, Charlie has been neutered, had a dental cleaning, and received treatment for parasites and an ear yeast infection. He also has a grade two heart murmur that does not currently require medication, but will need monitoring.

Charlie is ready for a family who will give him plenty of love, attention, cuddles, and companionship. In return, he’ll happily provide all the hugs, lap time and unconditional love you could ask for.
