Atlas in Northville, MI
A Perfect Shadow
Meet Atlas, a little gentleman with a big heart and a love for all things cozy, especially cuddling with his favorite person! This handsome 5-year-old black and tan male born 01/31/21 is everything to love: sweet, gentle, affectionate, and devoted. Whether he’s curled up beside you, following you from room to room, or greeting you with a wagging tail, Atlas simply loves being part of your day. He came into rescue through no fault of his own when his family work schedule meant more time away from the home and less time for Atlas. Now, he’s ready to share all that love with a new fur-ever family that can give him the attention he needs.

Atlas has a calm, easygoing temperament and truly loves people. He warms up quickly to visitors and previously lived in a home with a young child. A true companion at heart, Atlas would do best in a home where someone is around most of the day. He’s happiest curled up in your lap or resting quietly nearby, content just knowing you’re close. While he loves attention and affection, he’s equally happy to settle in and relax by your side.

Atlas is hard of hearing, but that doesn’t keep him from enjoying life to the fullest! His new family will need to be mindful that he may not hear them calling or approaching. Simple adjustments, like using visual cues to get his attention, will help him navigate his world comfortably.

In his foster home, Atlas has had excellent house manners. He is fully housetrained with no accidents when given regular potty breaks. He’s also crate-trained, sleeping soundly through the night in his crate next to his foster mom’s bed. He also rests comfortably there when she runs errands, although when left alone without the crate, he usually just finds a cozy spot to sleep. During the workday, Atlas is the perfect home office companion, happily relaxing in his special chair or doggie bed while his foster mom works nearby.

Atlas enjoys the simple pleasures in life, from leisurely walks and exploring outdoors to a good belly rub. He’s a wonderful walking companion (good leash manners) and loves spending time outside. Because of his hearing loss, a securely fenced yard is especially important for his safety, along with keeping him leashed whenever he is outside an enclosed area. Atlas can get a little enthusiastic around other dogs, so supervised introductions and playtime with Cavaliers or other dogs of similar size and temperament would be beneficial.

Atlas is in excellent health, at his ideal weight, and recently had his teeth cleaned. He is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped.

With his gentle nature, loving heart, and easygoing personality, Atlas is a wonderful example of everything that makes Cavaliers such special companions. If you’re looking for a sweet, devoted friend who will happily share your days and your favorite spot on the couch, Atlas may be just the fella for you!
