Eugene in Virginia Beach, VA
Meet Eugene!
This noble and handsome boy is Eugene! He is an approximately 1-year-old Tricolor Cavalier. He recently came into rescue because his previous owners were experiencing health issues. He is an expert snuggler, loves giving kisses, and would definitely win first place in any butt-wiggle contest!

While in our care, Eugene quickly bonded with his foster mom. He adapted quickly to his new surroundings and his foster Cavalier sister. Although he prefers sleeping in the big bed, he is also being introduced to sleeping in a crate.

Eugene has been excellent with his potty habits, consistently going outside. However, this success comes with potty breaks every few hours and immediately after meals. He has also been left home alone with his foster Cavalier sister for a few hours at a time and has not displayed any signs of anxiety. He does what Cavaliers do best—nap!

Eugene has interacted well with his foster Cavalier sister and other dogs he has encountered on walks. He has had some interaction with children but appears to be more comfortable around adults. He has not been around cats.

He is very curious about squirrels and needs to be kept on a tight leash during walks. Loud traffic seems to make him a little uncomfortable, so walking on less busy streets has been preferable.

Eugene does not appear to know basic commands or walk particularly well on a leash. His foster mom is working with him on these skills and recommends additional training after adoption.

He had his first veterinary health checkup and passed with flying colors, with the exception of needing treatment for whipworms. He has completed his first round of medication and will need a second follow-up treatment in a few weeks. After that, he should be completely cleared.

Eugene had not been neutered when he entered rescue and is scheduled for his neuter surgery on November 11. This sweet boy will be ready to go to his forever home after he has recovered from surgery.

Eugene would do best in a home where he receives lots of attention and has someone around most of the time. Since he is still fairly young, he will also need regular exercise, training, and socialization.
