Zelda in Woodland Hills, CA

Zelda is looking for her last forever companion to spend her time with, someone who is home a lot and loves to be loved just like she does. Zelda would thrive in a calm household where she can take frequent naps and explore the backyard in good weather during the day. Please spread the word for Zelda and share the message that a dog is never “too old” to adopt.

Zelda has a touch of mystery to her — she came to the shelter as a lost stray. When they scanned her microchip, they discovered a heartbreaking twist: she had been in the shelter system years eight years earlier. While the shelter estimated her age at 14, her foster mom begs to differ! Zelda is incredibly perky at times and often out-peps her 11-year-old foster sibling.

At her vet exam, Zelda was treated for a mild respiratory infection and parasites. She had an anesthetic dental cleaning and lost 8 teeth. Her heart is good, and her hearing is selective (mostly tuned into the sound of the food bowl). She is a quick learner and has adapted easily in her foster home.

Zelda doesn’t ask for much, but she has a lifetime of love left to give. Help us share her story and find her the unconditional love she deserves! She is ready to thrive and bring joy to her new family. She’s most comfortable sleeping in the big bed at night with her pack and often on the couch during the day or a cushy dog bed. She is house-trained with regular outings every few hours. She is also trained to use pee pads if you need to leave her for longer periods. She thrives in a quiet, cozy household where she can take frequent naps and wander around a sunny backyard to sniff the grass. She walks great on a leash but prefers short distances before she gets tired.

Zelda gets along well with her foster siblings, 7-year-old and 11-year-old Cavaliers and a 7-year-old Tibetan Spaniel. Her foster family says that she is the sweetest Cavalier they’ve ever hosted. Zelda loves sitting next to them in the big easy chairs to watch TV or rolling with delight on the carpet to stretch when she’s feeling fine. She doesn’t ask for much, just regular tasty meals and needs someone who will love her unconditionally because she will love you back just like that. We hope her age doesn’t intimidate you, because Zelda needs only daily love, cuddles and snuggles. We are hoping that the right person will be her person who also desires those same things.

Zelda would love to spend her days with someone who is home a lot and be the object of their affection, as she adores her human. She deserves nothing but a loving home, healthy food, belly rubs, cuddles, and most of all L O V E. If you are seeking a calm and loving companion who will bring adoration, and a sense of peace and serenity to your life, Zelda is the perfect match. Her presence will fill your home with warmth and love, and your reward will be unwavering loyalty and devotion that only an older dog can offer.
