Andrew in Rogersville, MO
Meet Andrew! Andrew is a 4-month-old, sweet-natured, playful boy born on January 5th. He came to Cavalier Rescue USA through a Good Samaritan. He is a handsome Ruby Cavalier with white on his chest, under his chin, and on the tips of his feet. Andrew is a healthy, easy-going pup who quickly settled into his foster home and made friends with his Cavalier housemates.
Andrew is friendly, happily wags his tail, and jumps about when excited. He is a lively boy who enjoys playing with fuzzy toys, chewing on bones, and tug-of-war with his housemates. He is excellent at sharing his toys and has shown no tendencies towards possessiveness. Outside, Andrew likes to romp in the yard and chase after his housemates. Inside, he follows his foster mom around the house wherever she goes. He is well-mannered with children and newcomers and loves being petted. He takes treats politely and also enjoys licking Easy Cheese from your finger. Andrew is an active puppy!
Andrew is a great snuggler! He loves to nestle as close as possible and kiss your face. Sitting near you and chewing on a bone is his favorite downtime activity. Andrew sleeps in a crate beside his foster mom’s bed at night. Going to sleep takes a few minutes, and Andrew protests about having to go to bed. However, after a few minutes of calm reassurance from his foster mom, Andrew settles down and sleeps all night. In the morning, after pottying, Andrew snuggles in bed with his foster mom and Cavalier housemate for a few extra minutes of shuteye.
Andrew is a smart puppy with a strong food drive, making training easier. He is working on sitting and walking politely on a leash. Andrew recognizes his name and comes when called. However, he will need continued training on basic commands. Andrew is not potty trained, and he will need a watchful eye. He does best on a regular schedule, but as a puppy, he occasionally has an accident. Therefore, supervision is necessary while Andrew acclimates to the household routines of his forever home.
Andrew is healthy, microchipped, and up-to-date with vaccinations. However, he will need neutering at 9-10 months old. He is currently too young for that procedure. The adoptive family will have to agree to provide that procedure for him. The adoption will be based on that agreement and not final until proof of the completed procedure is provided to Cavalier Rescue USA. In addition, Andrew has a very small umbilical hernia that has been repaired once. A veterinarian must decide whether the hernia needs additional repair. If so, the procedure is minor and can be done with Andrews’ neuter.
Andrew will make an ideal companion for active individuals and families. Andrew will do best in a home with established routines and another easy-going, mature dog.
