Angel in Fort Myers, FL
Greetings from the Sunshine State! My name is Angel and I’m a beautiful female Blenheim who according to my foster Mom, my name is an apt description of me because I am just that, an Angel! I have adapted well and been thriving in foster care as I am beginning this new chapter of my life! My foster Mom says that I am a gentle, precious gal with “old Soulful eyes”! I am loving, intelligent, responsive, observant, and energetic. As an extra bonus, I am house-trained and make no messes inside. In fact, when I have to go potty, I sit and face you to let you know ”I need to go!”
I love being outdoors and am vigilant about watching geckos, squirrels and anything that moves. I would love a fenced-in yard and yet, I am learning the joys and gifts of walks all over the neighborhood experiencing new places, smells, and locations. I am friendly towards both people and dogs, eagerly greeting everyone with a joyful tail wag. While my hearing may not be strong, I am intelligent and I anticipate things well. In fact, I will look you right in the face to try and figure out what you want me to do and would learn new commands quickly with someone who has patience and is willing to communicate with hand signals since my hearing isn’t so great.
I love to eat and I have a good appetite! I like my naps and I sleep soundly on the floor next to her foster mom’s bed or in a crate through the night. I really like the cool floor and don’t try to get on the bed. I have been through a lot of changes and so, when Mom leaves, I get a bit anxious but wait patiently for my foster family to return, laying down and sleeping. I eagerly play with toys and enjoy chewing on Dentastix as a treat. My foster mom’s Cavalier and I don’t really interact much and I have been an only dog all 8 years of my life so I pretty much keep to myself and would rather sit by her feet. I want to be wherever she is even in the bathroom!
I came into rescue because my previous owners were unable to care for me after discovering I needed heart testing and medications and their concerned vet gave us a call. Since then, I was swiftly diagnosed with congestive heart failure and have been on medications that have significantly improved my health by eliminating any current symptoms of distress. Thankfully, I feel so much better! Wow! What a difference! So, in order to continue to feel as great as I do, I will require a few daily medications and regular check-ups with a local cardiologist every six-twelve months. I don’t mind taking these meds at all because they get hidden in a little bit of yummy peanut butter or some cooked green beans, carrots, or sweet potato!
Being a typical Cavalier, I am super affectionate and love attention if you don’t mind sitting on the floor with me to cuddle. By the way, I don’t jump on the couch but I could probably learn if encouraged. I’d love to be your best friend and think I’d also be a good therapy dog since I’m so gentle, quiet and sweet. I need my forever family to be home with me most of the day and no young children, please. I am up to date with all my required vaccinations and preventatives and am spayed, of course.
