Ashleigh in Cranston, RI

Meet Ashleigh, a beautiful Blenheim Cavalier girl with a heart full of love and resilience. While her paperwork lists her as 5 years old, we believe this sweet lady is 8+ years old. Ashleigh came to us after a life as a breeding dog, carrying the effects of years of neglect. When she arrived, she was suffering from a double ear infection, a UTI, hookworms, fleas, and ulcers on both eyes. Thanks to the devoted care of her loving foster mom, Ashleigh has made incredible progress and is well on her way to recovery.

At a recent veterinary visit, Ashleigh was diagnosed with a grade 4 heart murmur. Fortunately, X-rays showed no enlargement of her heart. She will also receive an echocardiogram before she is placed in her forever home so her future family has the best understanding of her health needs. Ashleigh also has a small hernia, most likely the result of the many pregnancies she endured during her breeding years. Our veterinarian believes it is cosmetic and does not require treatment. Ashleigh weighs 14 lbs. She is not yet fully house trained so will need frequent potty breaks and consistent reinforcement.

Despite everything she has been through, Ashleigh remains one of the happiest little dogs you could ever meet. Since leaving breeding life behind and discovering the “good life,” she has truly blossomed. She greets everyone with joy and is always eager to make new friends. Ashleigh is the definition of a velcro dog — she wants nothing more than to be close to her people, preferably snuggled in their arms or curled up beside them. Her dream home would include lots of love, gentle companionship, and, most importantly, a spot in the big bed at night.

Ashleigh is finally ready to leave the first chapter of her life behind and begin the one she has always deserved — a life filled with love, comfort, companionship, and endless snuggles. Could you be the one to give this sweet girl her happily ever after? If you are home much of the time and think you could be a great fit for Ashleigh, please submit an application if you haven’t already and then email Jill Kitson at cavaliersinri@gmail.com.
