Benji in Houston, TX
Hi there! My name is Benji, and I’m a 2-year-old Blenheim Cavalier born on 06/17/2024. I have a heart full of love, a face full of smiles, and a whole lot of enthusiasm for life! I’m a happy-go-lucky boy who seems to believe that every day is the best day ever. And honestly? I’m just getting started!
My foster family says I’m a diamond in the rough, and I think they might be right. I have so much love to give, and I’m trying my very best to learn all the things a good little gentleman should know.

The Good Stuff (And There’s A LOT!)
First things first: I’m in perfect health and heartworm negative, neutered, and microchipped! I’m completely housebroken with ZERO accidents, and I’m crate-trained and actually love my crate. I’m a pretty smart cookie, too! I’ve already started learning basic commands, and I’m eager to please my people.
I love car rides, going outside, playing, and spending time with my Cavalier foster siblings. We have a grand time playing, chasing each other, and enjoying life together. I’m a social little guy who loves having furry friends around, once I’m familiar with them!

But my absolute favorite thing? MY PEOPLE!
I’m an affectionate, devoted little snuggle bug who believes personal space is highly overrated. If you’re sitting down, I’m probably on your lap. If you get up, I’m following you. If you move to another room, well, obviously I need to supervise! I’m your shadow, your snuggle buddy, and your very enthusiastic little sidekick. I just want to be loved, and I have plenty of love to give right back.
I’ve adjusted to my foster family’s routine remarkably quickly, and I’m loving every minute of my new life. Inside the house, I’m pretty much a perfect little gentleman… unless someone new walks through the door!

My Enthusiasm Is… A Work in Progress!
Here’s the thing about me: I missed some important lessons when I was a puppy. I wasn’t exposed to many new people, dogs, or places when I was young, so now I think EVERYTHING is the most exciting thing I’ve ever seen!
A new person? AMAZING! A dog on a walk? INCREDIBLE! An adventure outside? ABSOLUTELY LIFE-CHANGING!

My excitement can come out as barking, whining, jumping, and pulling because I desperately want to investigate everything immediately. When visitors arrive, I greet them with a very enthusiastic welcome before settling down and usually claiming a lap. Once I get to meet someone or another dog, I calm down pretty quickly.
There is no growling or biting involved—just a whole lot of unfiltered, over-the-top happiness! Think of me as a teenager driven little sports car with a very enthusiastic loud engine and a few manners still to learn.

I’ve just started learning to walk on a leash, and all those exciting sights and smells can make me pull pretty hard. A harness helps tremendously, and my foster family is working with me on my leash manners. I’ll need someone patient and committed to continuing my training, and professional help would likely be beneficial. I really do want to learn; I just get so excited that sometimes my brain forgets to tell my feet to slow down and I can be a little loud with my barking and whining!
A Note About My Diet
I may have food allergies or sensitivities to chicken and beef. Right now, I’m thriving on a prescription diet, and my future family will need to be committed to keeping me on a diet that works for me. Other protein options, such as duck or kangaroo, may be worth exploring with my veterinarian.

My Dream Home
I’m looking for a family who understands that I’m a wonderful little dog who needs some help polishing his manners. I would do best with:
My ideal home would have someone around most of the day to provide the companionship, love, and reassurance I need. I would thrive with an experienced, patient dog owner who understands training and can help me channel my excitement into good manners. A securely fenced backyard would be wonderful so I can safely explore, play, and burn off some energy.
A retired couple or a family with older, respectful children would be a great fit for me. I would also love a friendly canine companion, as I really enjoy playing with my Cavalier foster siblings! With patience, consistency, and lots of love, I know I can continue to blossom into an amazing companion.
I haven’t been tested around cats or very young children, so I’m not sure how I would do in those situations just yet.

What I Promise You
I’m not a finished product, and I won’t pretend to be. I will need help with jumping, barking, whining, and learning how to enjoy the world without acting like every outing is the greatest event in history.
But in return for your patience, consistency, and love, I promise to give you something pretty special: a happy little companion who wants to be wherever you are, who will snuggle close whenever you sit down, who will try his very best to make you proud, and who will greet each day with a smile.
I have so much potential just waiting for the right person to help me shine. Beneath all my excitement is a sweet, affectionate boy who simply wants to belong. Could you be the one to show me just how wonderful life can be?
