Benji in Old Town Alexandria, VA

Meet Benji, a handsome 2-year-old Ruby boy born 11/07/2023. Benji has been enjoying his foster family, splitting time between Old Town Alexandria (city life) and a lake house in the Fredericksburg, VA area. He is a very happy, playful, energetic, curious boy. He follows mainly his foster Mama everywhere. 

Benji is a healthy pup and weighs 21 lbs. When he arrived, he was, as expected, tentatively settling into his new environment and routine. He wasn’t eating much, but after a few days, that changed, especially when chicken, rice, and pumpkin were added to his meals. He’s thriving now and food-motivated. 

He sleeps like a champ in his crate, and we do not hear a peep. During the day, when we’re out, he’s free to go wherever in our house, as he’s fully house-trained and has not had one accident. His biggest challenge is anxiety. Especially on his city walks with cars, sounds, kids, and other dogs. He is comfortable with some dogs, but not all. He loves car rides and settles down easily. 

His foster mama feels he’d be happiest in a suburban or quieter environment, as we’ve discovered how happy he is at our lake house. He is so very loving and fun. He will make an amazing addition to the right person or family.
