Bonnie and Tammy in Greensboro, NC
Bonnie and Tammy are bonded Tricolor Cavaliers who lost both of their owners within a year of each other. After most recently losing their Dad, their neighbor stepped in to help after they were sent to a local shelter. She quickly got them released into her care, and then contacted us for help.
Unfortunately, Bonnie and Tammy are not new to the rescue world. Their loving owners adopted both of these sweet girls. Their owners were avid Cavalier lovers and rescue supporters. Bonnie and Tammy been through a lot, and are now looking for their retirement home. They love the familiarity of each other’s company, and must be adopted together.
Bonnie is a happy, laidback lady who loves everyone, two-legged and four-legged. She loves to run around the backyard like a young pup. Her favorite thing is laying by her person while being gently petted. Bonnie’s tongue hangs out of her mouth due to losing all of her teeth, but that just adds to her delightful personality.
Bonnie recently had what is probably her last dental exam, and had her remaining four teeth extracted. She feels a lot better with no more yucky infected teeth. She’s still able to eat and drink just fine. Her foster Mom softens her kibble with warm water before each meal.
Bonnie is estimated to be around thirteen years old. She has a grade one heart murmur with no medications needed. She also has small cataracts, but seems to see just fine. She also has some hearing loss. Bonnie is housebroken and used to being taken outside regularly. (She can go on a pad if needed.) Bonnie is heartworm-free, and is on monthly heartworm and flea/tick medication.
Tammy is the leader of the two. She loves to be loved on, but will not ask for it. At times she will let you know she is done by moving away. Tammy does love belly rubs, and will lay there as long as you are rubbing her. She does follow her foster Mom around the house just to make sure she is okay.
Tammy has the cutest snore when she is sleeping. She does eventually sleep silently. She is believed to be around ten years old with a grade 1-2 luxating patellas. The luxating patellas do not seem to bother her, nor do they require surgery. Tammy would benefit from continued weight loss to help her maintain her mobility. She also recently had a dental and lost thirteen teeth.
Tammy is housebroken, and is used to being taken outside regularly. She is not a fan of wet grass and will pee on the patio if you let her. She was also accustomed to using a pee pad in her former home. Tammy is heartworm free, and is on monthly heartworm and flea/tick medication.
Bonnie is a very slow eater, and she must be fed separately from Tammy. (Tammy will come and eat her food otherwise.) Tammy is a bit heavy, so her foster Mom is working on getting her weight down.
They both sleep together, but would love to sleep in the big bed with their new owners.
Tammy and Bonnie are friendly to other dogs, but have not been tested around cats or kids. They need a calm home without young active kids, or overly playful dogs (or big dogs.)
These senior girls promise to fill their new owners home with love and laughter.
