Buxton in Portland, ME

Meet Buxton, affectionately known as Bucky, Buckster, Buckaroo! Buxton is a 4-year-old Cavapoo who came into rescue when his prior family relocated internationally. It is clear that Bucky was well-loved in his previous family, and he will be an absolute joy for his forever family!

Buxton is a beautiful Cavapoo with a bright white blaze on his chest. Since coming into rescue, he has been a wonderful houseguest! He likes to be close to his people at all times, including standing between your feet while you’re cooking dinner and sleeping near you at night. His ideal day includes taking a long walk (2-4 miles!), playing fetch with his squeaky ball, practicing his tricks, and then settling down next to his person for a while.

Buxton is in good health, up to date on preventatives and vaccinations, and neutered. He weighs 16 lbs. He is a very smart, attentive dog and would benefit from a family who can provide him mental stimulation through training and play, as well as regular exercise. He has mild seasonal allergies that can cause itchiness, for which he takes medication as needed.

In his foster family, Bucky  has integrated well with 2 Cavalier foster siblings and small children, although he seeks out and prefers the company of the adults in the house. When cuddling with his person, he can become mildly protective (growling) if another dog approaches and competes for attention, so he would not be compatible with another velcro dog in the family. He does get along well with his more laid-back foster Cavalier sibling and we think he would do equally well in a forever family with another laid-back dog or as an only pet. Most of all, this special pup needs a family with someone home most of the day and with unconditional love to offer him!
