Meet Cali: A Sweet Girl Ready for the Life She Deserves!

If you’re looking for a gentle, loving little shadow who wants nothing more than to be by your side, meet Cali! This beautiful Cavalier King Charles Spaniel might just be your perfect match!

Cali will turn 6 years old in December, and she is finally getting to experience what it means to be a cherished family member. For most of her life, she was a breeding dog and seemingly lived in a garage converted into a kennel. When her breeder retired, Cali was surrendered to rescue, and her whole world began to change. When she first arrived, Cali knew very little about living in a home. Things like couches, cozy beds, backyard adventures, and everyday household routines were all new to her. But she is discovering just how wonderful life as a beloved pet can be, and she is absolutely soaking it up!

Above all else, Cali wants to love and be loved. She is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and eager to please. She follows her foster family from room to room, always wanting to be close to her people. She doesn’t ask for much: just a soft place to land, a kind hand to pet her, and someone who will love her as much as she loves them. Because so much of the world is still new to her, Cali can be a little shy or overwhelmed in unfamiliar situations. But underneath that uncertainty is a loving, gentle dog who is blossoming a little more every day. She just needs a patient family willing to give her the time, encouragement, and reassurance she deserves.

A few things to know about Cali:

Housetraining: Cali is doing wonderfully and is mostly housetrained! However, living in a house is still a relatively new experience, so her future family must be committed to maintaining a consistent potty schedule and crating her when no one is home until her housetraining is completely reliable. She has made great progress, and consistency will be the key to her continued success.

Other animals: Cali is wonderful with other dogs! She hasn’t been formally tested with cats, but she ignored the cats she encountered at the veterinary office, and we suspect she would do well with a friendly, dog-savvy kitty.

Children: Cali loves kids! Her gentle, affectionate personality makes her a wonderful candidate for a family with kind, respectful children.

Health: Cali is spayed and generally healthy. She has a luxating patella (a kneecap that occasionally slips out of place) in one of her back legs, but her veterinarian did not feel that treatment or surgery was necessary. She also recently had a dental cleaning with seven teeth extracted, but she still has plenty of teeth remaining! She weighs 23 pounds and is a healthy weight.

Her voice: Cali’s previous owner had her debarked, a surgical procedure intended to reduce the volume of a dog’s bark. This was done before she entered rescue.

Cali’s perfect home will be one filled with kindness, patience, and plenty of affection. She would especially love a family where someone is home frequently, because being close to her people is truly her favorite thing in the world. She doesn’t need perfection, fancy toys, or grand adventures. She needs someone who understands that she’s still learning how to be a house dog and is willing to celebrate all the little milestones along the way.

For nearly six years, Cali spent her life giving puppies to other families. Now it’s finally her turn to be somebody’s baby. She has so much love to give, and after everything she’s known, there is something incredibly touching about how completely she wants to trust, please, and adore the people around her.
