Charlie in Peoria, AZ

Charlie is a handsome, playful and lovable 2 1/2 year old boy. Born on 10/23/23 in Utah, he is being fostered in Peoria, AZ after his family decided they didn’t have the time to breed him as originally planned.

Charlie is affectionate and loves to be with his people. He loves to curl up next to you and if you’re willing, curl up on your chest or your legs while sleeping. He was said to have slept in his crate before coming into foster care, but on his first night, he shook his crate so much that it came apart and he happily joined us on the bed with our other 2 dogs. He claimed his place and sleeps quite nicely – and quietly – not even waking others up with snores like the other dogs do.

Like any 2 year-old, he’s curious and loves playing with toys. Balls are his favorite and he’ll zoom around carrying and chasing the ball when he drops it. I don’t know who has more fun – him playing or us watching him entertain himself. He also enjoys walks and we’re working on not pulling on the leash. When he gets the chance to go off-leash in a protected area, he loves to run at full speed, change direction and do it all again. In another life, he may have been a gold medalist in Track. After all that work, he enjoys a good nap afterward.

Charlie wants to please and is a good listener following the many commands he knows (sit, stay, come, lay down, down/up, etc). He loves his food, and because of that thinks other dogs’ food is his and doesn’t understand why he can’t eat it all. Because of this, he would love a family where he can be an only-dog and live out his top dog life. Part of this is sharing his excitement for any new sounds and visitors with barking to make sure you know that he’s on it.

Charlie is in good health, weighs 17 lbs, is up to date on vaccinations and recently received a microchip and his neutering surgery. He’s recovered nicely and the only thing we’re currently watching is the potential for seasonal allergies – he came to us rather itchy, but after a 10 day dose of Apoquel, he’s been better and no longer taking any meds.  

Charlie loves all attention and is eager to bring joy and affection to your home. For his new home, Charlie will be happiest as the only pampered pup, a fenced yard, and a family who will actively engage him with walks and playtime.
