Corwin in Carlsbad, CA

Meet Corwin, affectionately known as Cory, a 6-year-old, 25-pound Blenheim Cavalier with a big heart and an easygoing spirit. Cory is the kind of sweet, chill dude who quickly wins you over with his playful personality, gentle nature, and love of being with his people.

This handsome pup absolutely adores being part of a family. He is wonderful with children and other household dogs. He doesn’t simply accept them, he genuinely thrives in their company. Whether he’s hanging out with his people, enjoying some playtime, or simply relaxing nearby, Cory is happiest when he feels included and loved.

Cory is reliably housetrained and sleeps soundly in his dog bed throughout the night, perfectly content knowing his people are close by. Cory is also a big fan of his daily walks and gets very excited when it’s time to head out. He can be leash reactive to other dogs, not aggressively, mainly because he is so excited to be out and about. He would love a family who can make regular walks and plenty of companionship part of his everyday life. Cory is very food motivated so a high value treat helps him thrive with a structured routine and continued positive reinforcement of expected behaviors.

Prior to entering rescue, Cory experienced a seizure-like episode while staying at a boarding facility. Approximately five months later, he experienced a second episode while in rescue. Cory was evaluated by a neurologist for a comprehensive neurologic workup to help determine the best course of action. Given the six-month interval between episodes, the neurologist recommended continued monitoring rather than starting medication at this time. Cory is up to date on his vaccinations and is microchipped. He has a Grade 2 heart murmur that does not currently require medication. His adoptive family should be committed to routine veterinary care and ongoing monitoring of both his heart murmur and any potential recurrence of seizure-like episodes.

Cory would love a family who can give him plenty of love, companionship, attention, and exercise. A fenced yard would be ideal, and a family with the time and patience to continue helping him learn and grow would be a wonderful match. Most of all, Cory wants what every Cavalier wants, a family to love and a family who will love him right back.
