Emily in Lebanon, MO

Here’s beautiful Emily, or Emi as she’s affectionately called since she’s a very happy, sweet one year old tricolor girl born 5/1/2024. Emi is rather petite weighing 11 pounds and healthy as can be. Even though she’s a small girl, Emi has a big personality and is a little Houdini. (More about that later) She was a breeder release and has been loving her foster family experience! Emily is smart and gets along really well with both people and her Cavalier foster siblings.

Emi’s favorite thing is running, playing and exploring in her backyard. She is super curious too and looks for ways to to escape to the outside world even though she has no idea where she wants to go! This little Houdini will look for a way to slip through the slats her foster family fence and can climb a chain link fence if her foster mom isn’t watching! Needless to say, Emily will need a very secure fenced in yard in her forever home where she can run as fast as her little legs will take her but with no escape routes. Her foster family has been working on leash training but never without her harness as she has zero recall skills and will bolt if given the opportunity to explore. Her new family will need to be willing to work with her to learn important commands to keep her safe.

Fun is what Emily is all about! She plays with her 3 foster siblings but her bestie is the 9 year old Cavalier boy who she follows everywhere and emulates his every move. They even lay together on the couch, sleep next to each other at night and even ride side by side in the car. Her foster mom thinks it would be best for Emily if she has a canine companion to hang out with in her new home. When her humans aren’t home, Emi has learned to crate with her other Cavaliers and will run to her crate when given the command “let’s lay down”, where she gets a treat.

An excellent car rider, Emily has been able to enjoy trips around town in her booster car seat while watching out the window. When she’s in the businesses, she uses her manners and is always fawned over by patrons and employees alike.

Her house training has been going well as she is a quick learner but does not signal when she needs to go out, rather she sits at the door and waits. Emily will need her new family to continue her training and establish a strict routine so she continues to have success. Thankfully, Emi is very receptive to praise and treats during her training.

Emily is an enthusiastic eater and likes all nutritious foods. After a long, active day, Emi is happy to snuggle on the couch with her foster mom and the other dogs. They watch TV for a bit and then head to bed where she sleeps in the big bed with everyone else all night. Emily loves to press and curl herself right up against her foster mom to sleep. Emi also loves to curl up in her shaggy donut bed, will play for hours with her toys and especially enjoys having her belly rubbed and chin scratched. In fact, when she wants attention, Emily will come and tap you to request a pet, or several. She is just a sweetheart and the family that adopts Emily will fall head over heels in love!

Emi is up to date on all her shots and preventatives for heartworm and fleas. She is spayed, has a micro chip and has been given a clean bill of health.
