Emmi in Newburgh, NY

Meet the sweetest little Blenheim Cavalier you ever will see. Emmi’s journey toward rescue began when she was released from a breeder. She had a short stay with an elderly man who quickly found he could not care for a dog. Just prior to being released to rescue, Emmi lived in a loving home with a working couple. Unfortunately, they worked long hours which they learned would not be the best situation for this little lovebug. This beautiful Cavalier loves to be near her people in true Cavalier fashion.

Emmi has proven to be good with gentle children and especially likes her foster moms 7-yr-old granddaughter. She likes to approach people of all ages and will cuddle up on the couch when given the opportunity. Dog toys are a hit so go ahead and start looking for some cute stuffies and soft bones :). She does get timid and backs up when people move toward her to pick her up. Head outside with her and watch how fast her little tail can wag!

Emmi is fully house trained. The foster family lets her outside in the fenced in yard with their other dogs and say she has not had one accident in the house. The foster mom says she “goes with the flow” and has been great with the other resident dogs and family dogs who come to visit. This cutie pie is crate trained and sleeps quietly overnight in her crate.

Emmi is up to date on her vaccines and she is loved by the veterinary staff. She weighs 14.8 lbs. She had a dental while in foster care, and recovered well following some extractions. An echocardiogram was done by a cardiologist, resulting in the diagnosis of stage 3 Mitral Valve Disease. The doctor does not recommend any medication at this time but stated a reevaluation is advised Fall 2026. Emmi appears to have significant hearing loss but she moves through the day with a happy way about her regardless of this.

Emmi is ready for her permanent home and will be looking forward to meeting you! If you are ready to welcome Emmi in to your life, please complete our online application if you haven’t already and then email Michelle Farnum at cavalierrescueny@gmail.com so she knows of your interest.
