Gatsby in Woodland Hills, CA

Meet Gatsby, a gentle soul ready for his forever chapter. Gatsby is a sweet, 1½-year-old, 15 lb Blenheim boy whose heart shines through his eyes. After starting his life as a breeding dog, Gatsby is finally discovering the joy of being a cherished companion.

Gatsby is a “dog’s dog” who thrives with canine friends of all sizes. He is most confident and settled when he has a furry companion by his side, making another dog in the home a requirement for his adoption. While initially shy and shut down, Gatsby is learning to trust humans. He now seeks out quiet evening cuddles, though he still startles at sudden movements and needs a patient, low-key environment.

We don’t have Gatsby’s birthdate or exact age, however, the vet assessed Gatsby as around one to two years old. He received treatment for an ear infection and deworming. He is recovered from his neuter surgery and a dental cleaning with baby teeth removed, microchipped and is up-to-date on core vaccinations, as well as flea and tick prevention.

Gatsby loves the outdoors and truly shines on walks and hikes. His confidence has blossomed from a tentative first walk of just a few feet to happily going a mile. He enjoys trails and does best walking alongside another dog. Because he can spook easily, Gatsby must always be walked on a leash, and his home should have a fully enclosed yard with no gaps.

At home, Gatsby is playful and joyful. He adores plush toys, enthusiastically emptying toy bins and racing around the house in happy zoomies. He also enjoys lounging, watching the world around him, and sunbathing in the yard. He sleeps soundly in a dog bed or curled up at your feet.

Food is a big joy for Gatsby because he once had to work hard for meals. He truly appreciates every bite and enjoys every treat. Gatsby is housebroken and continuing to refine his bathroom routine. He will paw at the door when he needs to go outside and is learning the difference between indoor and outdoor potty spaces with consistency and structure. He does very well when left at home with his foster dog sibling, relaxed, calm, and respectful of the house. He travels beautifully in the car and was a champ on a long road trip with his foster family.

Gatsby is sensitive, observant, and endearing. He is blossoming more each day and seeks a calm, loving home with another friendly dog(s), a secure yard, and humans who will celebrate each small step forward.
