Gibby in Plymouth, MI

Energetic, friendly, and loving. That sums up this 4-year old Blenheim male, Gibby. He was given to Cavalier Rescue USA when his owner became sick and was no longer able to give Gibby the attention he needs. Gibby likes all people and gets along well with the other Cavaliers in his foster home.

He is used to having his people home a lot and demonstrates separation anxiety when his foster mom leaves the room or home. Gibby also gets anxious when there is a change in routine, especially when he visits the vet. To help Gibby relax while in foster care, he has been taking a calming CBD twice a day.

He enjoys fetching a ball in the yard, going on walks, and then snuggling on the couch with his people. He also enjoys a high perch on the couch or at the window to monitor the yard. He is good at spotting squirrels! Same goes for cats, so he will not do well in a feline-friendly home. While on walks, Gibby can bark at other dogs. So he needs a family who is willing to work with him while walking. We think he would greatly benefit from a long walk every day to help burn off some of his energy.

Gibby has good house manners, not having had any accidents in the home while in foster care.

He does a great job sleeping through the night in his crate, as long as it’s next to his foster mom’s bed. He also stays in the crate when his foster mom leaves the house for short periods of time. But he will bark for awhile when she leaves the home, so he should not be placed in a condo or apartment.

His foster mom works from home, so he spends much of the day on a dog bed next to her desk or following her around the house. He’s a good shadow dog! Gibby does well where there is a routine, so he can anticipate what will happen. He is definitely a people-dog! It is important that his new family is home during the day to help minimize his anxiety. Gibby is a good travel companion and does well in the car.

The ideal fur-ever home for Gibby is one where there is someone home during the day. He would do best with a family that has another small, young dog to provide stimulation and to help ease his anxiety when the family leaves the home.

Gibby received a clean bill of health from the vet, is up to date on his vaccinations, has been micro-chipped, and is neutered.
