Gizmo in Columbus, OH

Gizmo is a sweet 5 year old tricolor boy who loves spending most of his time very close to his foster mom. Curled up on the back of the couch while you are reading, or next to your chair while you work is just fine with Gizmo as long as you are near.

Gizmo’s family selflessly surrendered him to rescue when they felt their lifestyle required him to spend too much time in a crate. The crate still isn’t his favorite place, but he will rest comfortably there while you are away once he’s sure you will come back soon. He will also sleep overnight in the crate, but would prefer a spot in the big bed, stretched out on his back, all four paws in the air just begging for belly rubs. So cute and silly!

He loves to watch the goings-on in the neighborhood from the back of the couch and keeps us all safe from Amazon drivers, Door Dash deliveries and random items blowing across the yard. He does not require a fenced yard, and walks well on a leash and loves to take daily walks. He barks at first at new people, but settles quickly when reassured they are friend, not foe.

Gizmo guards his food from other dogs so is crated at meal time. While he gets along with his foster siblings in all other ways, he would be probably be happiest as an only dog with all the food, all the treats, and all the attention. He is so eager to please and return your affection.

Gizmo weighs 20 pounds, is fully recovered from recent neuter surgery, and is in good health. He has no audible heart murmer, is up to date on vaccines, and is microchipped. He will need a dental cleaning in the near future. He is housebroken, but his signal to go out is subtle – happy wigglebutt much like him at other times – so he does best when kept on a schedule.
