Gracie in Logansport, IN
Gracie is a beautiful, petite tricolor Cavalier who is 2 years old. Gracie has been through a lot. She was with a family for almost 2 years, but she ended up in the humane society after a divorce. She was adopted after a month in the humane society, but after a couple of months, it was clear that her new home was not a good fit for her, and she made her way to Cavalier Rescue USA. Gracie is now looking for her perfect forever home.
Gracie has a delightful personality. She is happy, feisty, and cuddly. She doesn’t play much with toys right now, but she likes playing with other dogs. She is affectionate with people and with other small dogs. She enjoys exploring the fenced backyard, and she especially likes doing zoomies outside. After running outside, she loves to come in for some lap time, and she is quite happy to spend an evening cuddling on the couch with her person, with other dogs, or, preferably, both.
Gracie adores being around other dogs. Her foster family has five Cavaliers, and Gracie likes to play, cuddle, chase, and spend time with the other dogs. In her previous home, Gracie was an only dog, and it gave her a lot of anxiety. This anxiety has completely resolved now that she always has other dogs with her. Being around other dogs gives her confidence and sense of comfort, and she likes joining in and following the pack. She loves being in a puppy pile and sleeping cuddled up to several other dogs. So, a multi-dog household will be the best fit for Gracie.
Gracie does not like to be crated. She was crated for a month while in the humane society, so she has bad associations with crates. When her foster family is gone, she stays with the other dogs in the living room and kitchen. Also, Gracie is mostly house trained, but she has had a few accidents while in her foster home. She has been learning quickly from the example of the other dogs, and she does very well when kept on a regular schedule.
Gracie has been spayed, is up-to-date with her vaccines, and takes a monthly flea and heartworm preventative. She had her teeth cleaned while in rescue. She has grade 1 MVD, but she does not require medication at this time. However, her heart murmur should be monitored.
Gracie’s foster family adores her, and this wonderful girl deserves a happy home for the rest of her life after a rough first 2 years. The perfect home for Gracie will have a couple of other Cavaliers or small dogs to play with her and keep her company. She would also prefer having someone home a lot of the time, and this will also help with her house training. Her forever home also needs a securely fenced yard with plenty of room for her to run and explore safely.
