Izzy in Northridge, CA

Introducing Miss Izzy, a beautiful tricolor Cavalier girl with a luscious silky fur coat. She is a girl looking to dive in to summer days, catch sunsets and chase the sunshine with a best friend by her side. 

We don’t have her exact birthdate, but Izzy’s age is estimated to be 5-years-old. She has shown all the charm and devotion typical of her breed. She is what Cavalier lovers call a “Velcro dog”, loyal, affectionate, and happiest when she is close to her people. She bonded closely with one family member in her foster home, but is generous with her affection to anyone who wants some love. She enjoys short bursts of play before settling down for a good nap, making her a lovely, calm companion.

Izzy came to rescue after living in a commercial breeding situation with lots of other dogs and the breeder was downsizing. It is clear she’s had several litters, but now it is her turn to be cared for and loved unconditionally.

Izzy has a larger stature for her breed. At her comprehensive vet exam, Izzy weighed in at 24 lbs. but is on a managed diet and exercise plan and has shed a couple of pounds. Her heart checked out well with no murmur detected on auscultation at the vet and she is in good health. She is now microchipped, spayed and had an anesthetic dental cleaning and lost a number of loose teeth. 

In her foster home, Izzy has been a dream. She hasn’t had any potty accidents and follows a routine with two daily walks, morning and evening, with potty breaks every 3-4 hours in the backyard. Her foster family keeps an eye out for signs that she needs to go out, and she has been doing great with this schedule.

Because of her history and gentle temperament, Izzy would thrive in a home with a securely fenced yard and ideally with someone who is around for most of the day. She loves human companionship and enjoys interacting with other small dogs too. Her social, friendly nature makes her a joy to have around, and she would do well in a home where she can be a part of the action, whether that’s snuggling on the couch, taking leisurely walks, or simply being close to her person.
