Here is Jay with his new family…

Jay is a 1-year-old Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who was born 02/17/2025. This pup has a soft expression, playful spirit, and so much love to give. Weighing 18 pounds, this handsome boy is in excellent health and full of happy puppy energy.

Jay’s previous owner purchased him and his brother from a breeder in Ohio. As the boys grew, it became clear they were struggling with littermate syndrome—a behavioral pattern that can develop when two puppies are raised closely together, leading to over-dependence on one another and challenges with confidence and training. Wanting the best for both dogs, the owner made the thoughtful decision to surrender one brother to our rescue so each could have the opportunity to grow and thrive independently. Since then, Jay has been making wonderful progress and truly coming into his own.

He can be a bit shy at first in new situations, but with a little patience, his gentle and affectionate personality quickly shines through. Once he feels safe, Jay is playful, sweet, and eager to engage. He loves toys, other dogs, and being near his people.

Jay is reliably housetrained and has a strong foundation, though like any young dog, he will benefit from continued consistency and positive reinforcement as he settles into his forever home. He would do best in a home with another friendly, confident dog who can serve as both a playmate and a role model. A fenced yard would be ideal, giving him a safe space to run, explore, and burn off some of that puppy energy.

Jay is currently being fostered in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, and is available for adoption within a reasonable driving distance. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving companion who just needs a little encouragement to blossom, Jay may be your perfect match.
