Koda in Loma Linda, CA
Meet Koda!
This handsome 8 -year-old Black and Tan Cavalier born 01/06/2018. Affectionately known as Koda Bear, he came to Cavalier Rescue USA from a loving home when his owner became ill and recognized that Koda needed more care than they could provide.

From the moment he arrived at his foster home, Koda seamlessly fit in with the resident Cavaliers and has also learned to peacefully coexist with the family cat. He is fully housetrained and happily uses either a doggy door or lets you know when he needs to go outside.

Although initially a bit reserved, once Koda realized life was still full of love and comfort, his true personality began to shine. He has become wonderfully snuggly and, in true Cavalier fashion, is a devoted Velcro companion. At night, he sleeps soundly, often accompanied by the sweetest little snores.

Did someone say “walk?” Koda absolutely lives for his daily walks and gets excited the moment the leash comes out. He enjoys taking in all the neighborhood sights and smells and is always happy to greet people along the way. He’s even discovered the joy of toys and delights in this new form of entertainment. Koda also rides beautifully in the car, making him an excellent errand buddy. He’s a perfect companion too for someone who works from home.

During his time in rescue, Koda was microchipped, brought up to date on his vaccinations and had an ear infection cleared up. Additionally, he had a dental procedure during which all his remaining teeth were extracted. This does not get in the way of Koda enjoying every last morsel of his daily soft diet. At his intake exam, a grade 4/6 heart murmur was detected, so he received a complete cardio evaluation. He is doing well on a daily low dose of Vetmedin, which costs approximately $100 per month. Maintaining a healthy weight and a follow-up cardiology exam within the next year are also recommended.

Koda would be happy as an only dog or in a home with another mature, like-minded canine companion. Older, dog-savvy children would also be considered.

If you think this easygoing, affectionate gentleman would be the perfect addition to your family, please complete an online adoption application if you haven’t already done so. Then email Nanci at nancigordon@gmail.com to let her know you’d like to be considered as Koda’s forever family.
