Lady in Madison, GA

Lady is a gentle, 5-year-old Ruby Cavalier living her best life in Madison, GA, and she wants nothing more than to be right next to you. She is a true professional snuggler who loves a good belly rub, and when she really wants to be close to you, she nestles in and buries her nose into you like she just wants to disappear into a hug. She also loves burrowing behind a pillow on the sofa to avoid bedtime, and has recently started playing chase in the yard with our other Cavaliers in the mornings. She is a wonderful mix of mellow and playful: a sleepy lap dog for much of the day, always eager for her morning and evening walks, and slowly learning how to really play.

Lady spent the first years of her life as a breeding dog, never given the chance to simply be a pet. After her last litter, she was surrendered by her breeder, and caring hands stepped in before she landed with us as her foster family. In the months since, she has truly blossomed, growing more confident and affectionate every week, and we could not be prouder of the dog she has become.

When Lady arrived, her dental health needed some attention, and she had several extractions that have left her preferring a softer diet these days. She has since made a full recovery, and when it comes to food, she is far from picky: she loves her Dr. Harvey’s dehydrated blend mixed with cooked ground turkey or beef, but really, she is a soft-food connoisseur who will happily accept any (soft) food or treat that comes her way! She also has a grade 5 heart murmur managed with daily medication, and she has been spayed and has finished her final rounds of vet visits and vaccines.

She is fully crate trained with zero accidents and house trained with a watchful eye, though she can have an excited accident when visiting somewhere new. She is still working on curbing excited barking when she spots other dogs on walks. She adores people, kids, other dogs, and cats, and she is also a known escape artist, so a secure, fenced yard is a must.

Lady would do best in an active but present household, ideally with another calm, dog-savvy companion (bonus points for a fellow Cavalier), where someone is home enough to give her all the attention and closeness she craves. She is not a good fit for a home where she would be left alone all day. Her new family should also be prepared for ongoing cardiology care and a slightly more involved, slightly pricier soft-food diet. In exchange, they will get an incredibly sweet, loyal companion who has so much love left to give.
