A Loyal sweetheart!

Meet loyal Lexi, a sweetheart of an 8-year-old female Cavalier who came into rescue when the toddler in her young human family developed a pet allergy. Lexi is a 17 lb. fit-and-trim tricolor female. Although loyal to her people, Lexi is a little reserved when first meeting new people. But her shyness only lasts a few minutes. In short order, she is trying to snuggle into your lap for lots of attention.

Lexi is thriving in her calm foster home where there is a regular routine and three full-time Cavaliers. She follows her foster mom everywhere she goes and has a tendency to get under foot. While her foster mom works at her desk (she works from home), Lexi finds a comfy chair or dog bed to settle into. At night while watching tv, Lexi claims the top of the couch as her throne so she can be close to her foster mom. 

When there is a lot of activity and visitors in the foster home, Lexi will find a quiet corner to hang out in. This summer she really enjoyed hanging out on the patio— taking in the summer breeze. But be careful, Lexi has proven to be a talented escape artist while in foster care. So, her fur-ever home must have a secure fence. She gets very excited when she sees her leash, signaling it’s time for a walk!

Lexi sleeps in a crate next to the people bed and is gated in the kitchen when her foster mom runs errands. She does have some separation anxiety, so she will benefit from being in a home with another small dog around to keep her company. Lexi is very reliable with her house manners, no accidents in the foster home. Although usually very quiet and calm, Lexi is one of the first dogs to alert her humans with a few barks when she hears and unfamiliar noise. 

Lexi just got her teeth cleaned. She is at a good weight for her petite frame. Her fur-ever family should limit treats so she can remain at this target weight. She is spayed, micro-chipped, and up-to-date on her vaccinations. She has a herniated umbilical which can be felt on her belly. This doesn’t bother her, so the vet is recommending no treatment at this time. No heart issues were detected.
