Maverick in San Jose, CA

Hi, I’m Maverick, a sweet and loving 2 year old Ruby boy who craves attention from those I know and love. While I’m shy with new people and may bark at first, I happily greet everyone I know with my tail wagging. Unidentified sounds or new situations may also trigger barking until I’m reassured and comforted. But I’m truly a real love bug and will happily beg for attention with a paw on your leg or a begging look. I have no issues with jumping up on a couch or a bed to join you for a snuggle either.

I love romping and playing with my foster sibling playing chase in the backyard with each other, chasing squirrels, or balls, and we also enjoy playing tug of war with our toys. I’ve been a good boy with my foster mom’s cats, except for occasionally giving chase if they decide to make a loud noise and run. But my favorite thing is quietly sleeping or chewing on a toy by those I love, or even better, getting snuggles. I’m always ready for attention and snuggles.

My shots, microchip, neuter, and a thorough teeth cleaning are all done. I’m well crate trained and will ask to get out with a whine and I’m pretty well house trained but my foster mom puts me out regularly so I may not know how to ask to go outside to potty yet. I might still have accidents in new situations but generally I’m a pretty good boy about doing my job outside.

I enjoy walks and exploring the backyard. I do greet other dogs and people, but I may bark, especially if they bark at me. I generally do well at staying with my foster mom and enjoy the new smells and sights, but I may get over excited and run back and forth in front of your feet. I particularly like time in the backyard. As for toys I love anything I can chew on, chase, or play tug with but I have a particular fondness for chasing balls.

I’m used to my crate and sleep quietly in there at night but I really love to nap in laps and do love to snuggle on the couch as well. I’m frequently found happily curled up with my foster siblings and really want a canine snuggle buddy in my new home. My foster mom has tried to teach me several basic commands like sit, come, and stay and I do pretty good but do get distracted still. However, if you’re patient and give me lots of positive reinforcement I’ll keep on learning. I’m very eager to be loved and pampered.

If you feel you’re a good fit for me, please submit an online application if you haven’t already so we can get to know you better and then send an email to our Northern California Coordinator Sarah Knudsen at sayrahk@gmail.com and let her know you’re interested in me. I’m looking forward to finding my furrever family.

With all my love, Maverick.
