Mazzy in Dillsburg, PA
Mazzy came to her foster home a very shy and scared girl. She was owned by a breeder, but we were told that in 3 years she never had a litter. Everyday she became more comfortable in her new home and she has transformed into a new dog. She has overcome many of her past worries, but still needs a calm and patient family to help her feel secure.

Mazzy has many common Cavalier qualities. She has to have eyes on her Foster Mom at all times. She isn’t necessarily a lap dog, but the couch is her favorite place and she loves to cuddle up next to you. She gets excited to go out in the yard, but she does not know how to walk on a leash. This is one area where her past still affects her and she will freeze when attached to a leash. She has enjoyed walks outside in a front pack and a stroller would be another good option.

Mazzy will sleep much of the day and play with toys a little, but she doesn’t require a ton of activity. She sleeps great at night in her crate and doesn’t make a peep. She does not like to be left alone for too long though. She would prefer to be with her family most of the day. She is crated when we leave the house. If she isn’t crated, she will have more separation anxiety, even if left alone for a short time.

She is tiny but mighty. Mazzy has found her voice and will bark to alert when visitors arrive, but calms after greeting new people. She is very sweet with humans, but more dominant with her foster brothers, even though they are bigger than her. She can be protective of toys and Mom. She would be best suited as an only dog.

Mazzy is a very healthy pup! She has no health issues, is a good weight at 15 lbs, and has a great appetite. She is easy to groom and even though her fur isn’t long, she should be brushed often. She will tolerate teeth brushing, nail trimming and even a bath… but she doesn’t love it. She uses pet steps to get on the couch, but she hasn’t tried to get in the human bed.
