Mocha in Boston, MA

Mocha is a sprightly, female, black and tan Cavalier who was born 10/5/25. She is eager to be part of a new family in her forever home. Mocha is a very active puppy  and enjoys all forms of play – with toys, with other dogs, ball, chase, as well as training and treat based games. She will bring enthusiasm and energy to her next home and is looking for someone who is ready to take on the needs of a puppy and help her grow into a confident, intelligent, and affectionate dog.

Mocha wants to make  friends with all the dogs and people she meets. She has no reservations about saying “Hello” to just about everyone. She has enjoyed having her Cavalier foster sibling as a playmate, as she is always up for a wrestle or chase. When she doesn’t have a canine playmate, Mocha is ready to engage with her humans. She needs no convincing to spring to action, and will quickly find any fun available.

Mocha will do well with an active owner who is able to build a strong routine with her. Mocha gets along well with children and adults alike. While she has loved her dog companion during foster care, she could also do well as a solo dog, as long as she gets plenty of attention from her people. The ideal owner would be someone home most of the day. As a puppy, she can struggle to understand personal space with other dogs, and some dogs find this behavior to be rude.

Mocha has shown herself to be well potty trained and will even bark to let you know if she needs to go out. As a puppy, she can get distracted in a yard, but will potty right away on her walks with a leash. As a result, we do not think it is necessary for Mocha to have a fenced yard. Mocha is crate trained and happily sleeps in her covered crate in her foster parents’ bedroom. Mocha isn’t big on sleeping-in, and she doesn’t need any coffee to start her day, as she is usually excited to start playing at 6 AM. She has been left crated while her foster family is out, but she hasn’t been left for more than a couple of hours.

Mocha is a typical puppy in that she requires a lot of engagement. Mocha enjoys a lot of activity, including twice daily long walks and ample toy time.  Once you’ve worn her out, she is very cuddly and happy to sit on a lap. After a 45 minute walk in the morning, she is happy to settle through most of the work day, and is a great work-from-home companion. She is well-socialized and has even accompanied her foster dad to his office several times. With continued training she could be a great companion going lots of places. Her forever family  should build a routine to ensure she gets her energy out and is ready to sleep the night. Since she is so enthusiastic, it isn’t too hard to keep her engaged. Training classes will be required for Mocha to build confidence and focus.

Mocha is spayed and up-to-date on immunizations and preventatives and she is a healthy Cavalier.
