Modelo in Olathe, KS

Modelo is a handsome 2-year old Ruby boy who was born Aug 12, 2024. Modelo has a happy, energetic personality. His previous owner, an active-duty service member, received deployment orders and could not take him along. She contacted Cavalier Rescue USA because she trusted us to find a great home for him. Modelo was intact when he came to Rescue, and he has recently had neuter surgery.

 

His previous owner was gone a lot, and Modelo was kenneled often. This situation was not ideal as Modelo is young and has lots of energy to burn. We are looking for a home with someone who is happy to spend lots of time with him, work with him, and play with him. He would also benefit from basic obedience classes, which will help him focus and form a strong bond with his new owner.

 

He has settled in quickly with his foster family, and he really is a good boy. He loves being petted and he likes giving kisses, too. He follows his foster mom around the house. When she sits down, he’ll get in her lap. He is definitely a Velcro dog. We think he will quickly attach himself to his new forever family.

 

Modelo gets along with the foster family’s dogs, though he has not been tested around cats. During mealtimes, he prefers eating in his kennel, separated from the other dogs. Modelo will do well with another canine companion, but he’ll also be fine as an only pet where he could receive all the love and attention.

 

He likes dog toys, but he will remove the stuffing and squeakers – so we recommend tough indestructible doggie toys with supervised playtime. Recently, he has been playing with a squeaky ball. Most of all, Modelo just loves human affection and interaction.

 

He was mostly housebroken when he came to us, though he likes to mark outdoors (he has not marked indoors). However, since being neutered, the marking behavior has calmed down and he’s showing improvement with that. Foster parents have been keeping him on a regular schedule, and he goes outside to do his business with the other dogs.

Foster mom likes to go on walks, and Modelo enjoys going with her. He really likes this activity, though he tends to pull on the leash. He thinks that going on walks is exciting and he wants to investigate everything. He loves meeting new people and does so with much enthusiasm. Because of his overzealous nature, he will often jump on people when he greets them. He’s just so excited and wants to say hi. Modelo is very smart and likes to learn new things, and these behaviors can be corrected with simple training.

 

This pup is a super friendly boy with so much love to give. He is outgoing and still very puppy-like, and we would love to place him with a family who appreciates his youthful energy. He likes everyone he meets (kids, adults, other dogs), and he will make a great family pet.

 

Modelo is being fostered in Olathe, KS. An ideal family for him will have a fenced yard and someone home most of the day.
