Monroe in Rogersville, MO
Meet Monroe! Monroe is a three-year-old Blenheim, sweet-natured, easy-going boy who loves to cuddle.
Monroe’s birthday is March 5, 2023.

Although Monroe was rescued from a breeder where he didn’t receive the care and attention he deserves, he has a heart full of love.
He loves being a member of the family and playing with his Cavalier housemates. He loves his ears scratched and lots of cuddles.

Monroe is an active dog who plays with toys, chews on bones and chases balls. Anytime you squeak his toy, Monroe comes running! Toss a ball and he happily goes after it, and brings it back to you, repeatedly!
Anything can be a toy to Monroe, including personal items from the laundry basket. He doesn’t chew on them. He just likes to embarrass you by leaving them in the living room.

Monroe’s happy place is around people, and he does bark in protest if left him by himself. However, the complaining only lasts for a few minutes and then he settles down. Monroe wants you to know he would rather not be left behind!
Sometimes his foster Mom will give him a yummy treat or bone with peanut butter to lick when she leaves the house. In this case, there is no protesting from Monroe. He loves treats!

During quiet times, Monroe is a snuggler and nestles as close as he can to you. If he cannot get close, he will find a spot to lay down next to you. At bedtime, Monroe goes willingly into a crate and sleeps all night.
In the morning, he enjoys a snuggle in bed. He knows how to use the doggy steps to get up on the bed, and doesn’t hesitate to climb them if it means curling up with his foster Mom.

Monroe is a quick learner who will come when called and walk politely on a leash. However, the outside world is still new to Monroe and he may be a bit skittish when he encounters something new.
Monroe has a high food drive and wants to please, which will make training easier. If a correction is needed, Monroe responds well to a firm voice. He promptly stops what he is doing and looks to you for direction.

Monroe is potty trained and reliable on a schedule. He can be trusted for up to four hours inside. Accidents in the house are rare. However, a regular schedule and supervision are necessary while Monroe acclimates to the household routines of his forever home.
Monroe is healthy, weighs sixteen pounds and is up-to-date on all vaccinations. He is microchipped, neutered and had a dental cleaning.
At the time of his surgery, Monroe had an ear infection, and subsequently completed a round of antibiotics. His heartworm test was negative, and he is on a monthly preventative for ticks, fleas and heartworm.

Monroe will make an ideal companion for active individuals and families who have the time to devote to him. Monroe will do best in a home with established routines and another easy-going dog.
