Meet Murphy! 

Murphy is a handsome 2-year-old, neutered Cavalier King Charles Spaniel born 2/19/24. This pup’s heart is as healthy as it is full of love. This sweet boy has been making wonderful progress in foster care and is ready to find a patient family who will continue helping him blossom.

When Murphy first arrived, he was very shy and skittish, unsure of the world around him. After just one month in foster care, his transformation has been incredible. As his confidence has grown, so has his curiosity. He’s beginning to explore his surroundings, investigate new things, and show his playful, inquisitive personality. He now seeks out belly rubs, happily accepts kisses, and has discovered that being close to his people is one of life’s greatest joys. Murphy adores cuddling, follows his foster family from room to room, and would be perfectly content snuggled on a comfy couch, or even better, sleeping in bed with his humans and a canine companion.

Murphy sleeps soundly through the night and views his crate as his safe, comfortable space. He willingly uses it at bedtime and whenever he’s home alone.

He’s also making great strides in his training. Murphy is about 95% house-trained and is learning to sit and walk politely on a leash. Since he hasn’t yet learned to ask to go outside, his new family will need to watch for his subtle cues and continue taking him out every 2–3 hours during the day. With this routine, he has been very successful.

One of the greatest gifts you can give Murphy is time. He needs a family that understands that trust isn’t rushed. Allowing him to acclimate at his own pace will reward you with a devoted little shadow who wants nothing more than to love and be loved.

Murphy gets along beautifully with the resident Cavalier in his foster home. He’s beginning to play, enjoys their companionship, and it’s not uncommon to find the two of them curled up together in the same dog bed. Having another confident Cavalier has helped Murphy build confidence and discover just how curious and engaged he can be. Because he thrives with canine companionship, Murphy would do best in a home with another friendly Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who can continue showing him the ropes. We wouldn’t place this pup in a home with cats because he’ll chase them or children under the age of 10 as he is afraid of young, boisterous ones.

If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate companion and have the patience to let a shy dog bloom into your best friend, Murphy may be the perfect addition to your family. His journey has already begun, and with love, routine, and understanding, his best days are still ahead.
