Meet Nelson, a young, healthy Tricolor Cavalier born in July of last year. Nelson is the kind of dog who settles into your heart almost instantly. He’s exceptionally sweet, affectionate, and calm, with a gentle, emotionally intuitive nature and a love for everyone he meets. He brings a soft, easygoing energy wherever he goes and has never met a person he doesn’t adore, making him a wonderful companion for a variety of homes. 

In his foster home, Nelson has built a strong foundation. He’s had zero accidents when kept on a consistent schedule and is very close to fully mastering potty training with a consistent routine. He’s learning to wait patiently at doors and boundaries instead of rushing through, and he’s making steady progress with crate training, building comfort and calm independence. He also loves enrichment activities like sniffing out hidden treats, showing off his curiosity, engagement, and problem-solving skills. 

Nelson is wonderfully social and adaptable. He loves kids, enjoys playing with other dogs, and has even formed a special bond with a typically dog-averse cat by engaging in calm, respectful interactions. His naturally gentle demeanor allows him to connect easily with both people and animals, and while he enjoys canine friends, he isn’t overly dependent and can thrive as either a solo dog or with a companion. 

That said, Nelson is still a puppy and actively learning every day. He’s continuing to build skills in leash walking, crate confidence, impulse control, and independently signaling when he needs to go out. He will do best with a family that will continue guiding him with patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement, and understands that he’s not a “finished” dog yet, but one with an excellent foundation.

Nelson thrives when he’s included in daily life and will do best in a home that offers both love and structure with daily walks, regular exercise to build his strength, and continued training to help him grow into his best self. He would love a family that enjoys engaging with him through play, enrichment, and companionship, while also providing clear expectations and routine.
